1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a parent, there's nothing more satisfying than watching your child develop and flourish, both personally and acadically, and Goldsboro High School has played a key role in my child's growth journey. Our experience with the school has largely been positive, and I'd like to share some insights for other parents considering Goldsboro High School for their children.Academically, Goldsboro High School has proven to be an excellent institution. The curriculum is robust and the teachers are dedicated, often going the extra mile to ensure students understand and grasp the concepts. My child felt academically challenged, yet fully supported, which I believe is crucial for intellectual development. The school also boasts a wide range of Advanced Placement (AP) courses, which has allowed my child to pursue interests in greater depth while also preparing for college-level coursework.Beyond academics, Goldsboro has excelled in promoting a well-rounded education. The selection of extracurricular activities is commendable, from sports and arts to clubs focused on social issues, tech, and more. These activities have played a crucial part in fostering teamwork and leadership skills in my child. They've also encouraged interactions between students of diverse backgrounds, fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect.Additionally, the school administration is responsive and always willing to engage in open dialogue with parents. They’ve been understanding, communicative, and have shown a commitment to continuous improvement, which is highly reassuring.Nonetheless, like any institution, there's always room for improvement. While the school's facilities are generally well-maintained, upgrades in certain areas, such as the science labs and sports facilities, would be beneficial. Also, while the school does offer counselling services, I feel there's a need for more emphasis on mental health support and awareness. In conclusion, Goldsboro High School offers a nurturing and dynamic environment conducive to a student's academic and personal development. While there are areas that could benefit from enhancements, the overall experience for us has been positive and rewarding. I believe it is a place where children can thrive, and I'd recommend it to other parents who value a holistic approach to education.Parent Review2y ago6 Reviews - Tommys Road Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSo we moved here from San Antonio, Tx. We tried coming to Goldsboro just like anywhere else with a positive outlook. The most disappointing thing was the schools that both our children attended for the time we were stationed here. Being a military family or one that moves around a lot due to a parents job makes it even harder to find the right fit for your children. I will say we got spoiled in San Antonio but in a good way. At Tommy's road they don't seem to have anything that makes children want to be at school. We are strict on our children, they are raised like we were to respect your elders etc. However if you want to join the military then please do when you are of age but not in Kinder-5th grade. The office staff was what I avoided at all cost except for one lady who always spoke and seemed to love her job even if she didn't want to be there. I wish I could say the same for others. They don't check id's to make sure the right student is going with the right parent. It would be nice to have room moms and more parent involvement, special events for pta members, field day was horrible in my opinion. I love laying out and sitting out in the sun, but at the beach or pool not in 80 something degrees for two hours while each grade for that day does what they signed up for. What happened to everyone doing something all at the same time and rotating it out. With all that said I could say so much more that I was unpleased about. Very disappointing all around with both schools that our two attended the few years we were here. Beyond excited to be moving. Good luck to whomever checks out this school and your children attend.Parent Review9y ago12 Reviews - Check out schools near 103 E Lockhaven Dr #E.

"Less wandering dogs than 2 years ago. There were dogs that would wander the neighborhood and into my yard. I have 2 small dogs that stay with me when I am outside and are not allowed to leave the yard. These last 2 years, there is better control of wandering dogs. I live at a very busy intersection and would hate to see an animal get hit by a vehicle "

"It’s not unique. Most of the homes are well cared for and from the 50s or before. Immediate neighbors are friendly. Many pedestrians during the daytime. Quiet at night. Ages quite varied here from early 20s to mid 80s. Fire and EMS services close by and grocery store 5-6 blocks away. Off street parking for most homes. Low crime in this neighborhood. "
