Description

Comfy 1937 character house located in a quiet Mayberry-esque residential neighborhood. Just one mile to downtown Appleton (farmers' market!) and the riverfront, and two miles to the heart of Lawrence University. Upstairs, you will find four rooms that can be used as bedrooms or other spaces depending on the needs of your family. The master bedroom has an attached nursery with ample storage space. Both the master bedroom and the second bedroom have large closets. The fourth room, added around 2005, is the only one with a hard floor (the others are carpeted) and boasts tons of windows and a walk-out, and can be used as a bedroom, office, yoga studio, or as a laundry room (full hook-ups.) The full bathroom, re-done with a new toilet and vanity in 2014, and complemented by deep built-in cabinets, completes the second level. All windows upstairs have been replaced around 2005. On the main level, you will find a formal living room with amazing birds-eye maple floors, a formal dining room with the same floor as well as happiness-inducing afternoon sun, and a quaint kitchen with attached powder room. These rooms feature the original windows which add to the character of the home. The kitchen's walkway to the basement stairs is also where you will find the door to the attached garage with a new garage door as of 2013. The kitchen's original "outside" door now leads to a very homey, sunken four season sunroom with gas fireplace, which in turn leads out to the wooden deck and park-like backyard. All light fixtures have been updated. The lower level is partially finished and features a library room. A small cellar also houses the electrical components. There is a smaller room in the basement (originally the coal room) that can be used for storage, a small office, or a game room. A large unfinished work/laundry/storage area including the original cistern area and a working toilet (for a total of three in the house) completes the basement. The well landscaped yard includes a shed that is wired for electricity and a small garden behind the shed that offers fresh strawberries and raspberries every summer. Truly a house that feels like a home.
