4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a current student, I do think ISMS is a good school. I think we are above other schools, not academically or athletically but when it comes to the people. Of course there are the problem kids, but there are in every school, and that needs to be taken in consideration. We have good sports programs and everybody can be included. The majority of the students and teachers are encouraging, to those students who would normally be bullied, we make them our friends and talk with them, rather than bullying. Some teachers do abuse their power in my opinion, which is unfair for the kids. I do believe some teachers need to become more affirmative, and not always nag at the students talking even if they are working at the same time. Teachers need to understand kids are socializing, that's a big part of growing up. I think we do need to incorporate more punishment towards the students who think it is funny to call diverse students, such as myself, slurs or names due to the color of their skin or race. It is unfair to us, and teachers and administration should be more active with punishing these students. It is ridiculous to allow this behavior, especially in 2022. One thing is that for our students with special needs, we have a buddy program for them which I think really improves the emotions out there and helps them as a person. We instantly felt how laid back & grounded everyone is here. We appreciate the balance of both educational & social development that our children are receiving at Coesse. There are lots of opportunities for parent involvement. "There is always something going on that is family friendly. Street markets, festivals, etc. At the start of fall there is a fall festival with food, a tractor pull, and music. we just moved here so I’m not real sure of everything they have but so far what I’ve seen it’s really nice and family oriented. "

"Con: Some people let their dogs use the bathroom in others yards and don’t clean it up. Pro: it is very dog friendly. And all dogs are kept on leashes. "

"Southwest Allen County Schools have great, safe schools. Excellent rating from state but overall higher standards than country average. Highly recommend this area to raise a family. Great parks and trails. People are welcoming and neighborhoods are well kept. "

"I grew up in Indianapolis, IN so I was used to sirens all the time and constant noises and hearing about shootings. But when I moved to Roanoke, Indiana it was absolutely silent. It would keep me up at night because I would expect it to be noisy! This little town is awesome, being right in between Huntington and Fort Wayne, both 15 minute drives. There is a grocery store in Roanoke called "Hoosier Foods" but there is a Kroger 15 minutes away in Fort Wayne and a Walmart 15 minutes away in Huntingon. There are 2 gas stations, my personal favorite being the Lassus Handy Dandy. There is a reasonable amount of restaurants too! There is a nice park, tennis court, basketball court, baseball diamond, and soccer field with roads leading right to them! Also, a main attraction at the park is the creek!! There are sidewalks all over the place. I absolutely love Roanoke and I think anyone looking for a nice home to stay for awhile should come here. It's quiet, peaceful, clean, convenient, and safe."
