6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is disproportionately minority students and caters to kids who are not white and straight. I constantly get messages about equity and inclusion and how I should support it but nothing ever about how to protect all student from the weekly fights that take place between non-white students. The Spanish teacher (chair of the Spanish Dept.) has an LGBTQ flag in her classroom that she took down for back to school night when parents were going to be at the school. The next day, she put it back up. Strange. Seems she’s hiding something. Patents are not made to feel welcome and are questioned at the entrance upon showing ID. I’m surprised they’re not frisked, which is what should be done with most of the students. They also got rid of school security for the 2022-23 school year and fights broke out weekly, if not more, between non-white students. Our child won’t be returning.Parent Review2y ago29 Reviews - Warner Avenue Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is a mess and worse, it's dangerous for your kids if they are not part of the ethnic Persian Jewish majority. First, the mess: Principal turnover, 3 in 4 years. Teacher turnover that's even worse, permanent subs, merged classes. The demographic: no worries about having a dominant demographic, that happens. But this demographic is extremely exclusionary. No grace, no openness, no welcoming with open arms. Kids ask you which side you are on in the middle east, they wear MAGA hats. They sell challah bread, a religious food, on LAUSD property as fundraiser. They had an Israeli Independence Day celebration on LAUSD student grounds and tried to whitewash it like it was any other cultural celebration. In addition to above know that the fundraising arm of the school is all stay at home moms in this demographic. By default you can't really join any fundraising events if you work because they are midweek during and sometimes immediately after school. This isn't offensive it just is what it is. Everything else is exclusionary and offensive. Beware if you are not in this dominant majority or are in the dominant majority but are a decent person (and there are plenty of you!).Parent Review3mo ago35 Reviews - Emerson Community Charter School

"This is not a neighborhood for children. There’s a lot of sirens going at all hours of the night. Extremely noisy. Westwood village used to be really nice. Not anymore."

"Very safe, can walk to theatre, restaurants, grocery, medical doctor, best hospital 5 blocks. From this location it is easy to go any direction without traffic by taking the back roads. We moved here 10 years ago from Beverly Hills because we wanted to be close to UCLA Hospital— it is the best hospital in LA and My wife and I are in our 70’s. And if any emergency happens we will be more likely to survive. We walk to dinner most nights because there is a very good selection of great restaurants."
