5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children attended this school 2012-2015. The GOOD : Principal Almodovar was new in 2014, and has some great ideas for school improvement in many areas. He is visible, communicative, accessible, and the students love him. Mrs. Mejia, the school liaison, is consistently above and beyond. I admire the amount of dedication and passion the bilingual teachers display. I have heard special education teachers are excellent. Coach B stands out as a positive, influential, strong male role model, the students love. The teachers & staff are caring & positive, overall. Parkview is working hard on increasing their standards to align with the common core, & (I believe) is doing better at it than many schools that started in the same place (several years ago, they were rated a 6). The few parents who regularly volunteer are passionate & dedicated. Children who are below or at academic standards are going to get a good education here. The BAD : Parent involvement is lacking. I strongly believe the PTC needs to pay more attention to understanding the differences in family dynamics, cultural differences & income levels; in order to help bring more parent volunteers to their meetings & the school. More parents need to step up and help the PTC, to achieve this. Although, Parkview does its best to provide enrichment events throughout the year, innovation & creativity in learning could be stepped up a notch (art, science/social projects, field trips, etc.). I feel accelerated students do not get enough attention to continue in their growth pattern. The PBIS in place is good, but not necessarily followed through (for entire year) with consistency. OVERALL : I would have rated this school as average, but when you consider that this school is a Title 1 school, that has a lot of barriers to overcome (and is doing a good job of it), I think it deserves a rating of Good. The staff works hard to increase academic performance, the 2nd steps program and PBIS target behaviors, this school is safe, and clean. Again, the only real frustration I have had, is a desire to see MORE enrichment, MORE parental involvement, and MORE for accelerated students. Obviously, my personal frustrations are not the most important. Parkview is addressing the most important issues, (as they should) and I have no doubt that in time, they will continue addressing other issues & improving.Parent Review11y ago4 Reviews - Oak Ridge School

"Easy to drive to I-90 to get any where. A lot of open country roads, not too much traffic. Down by the fox river with the bike path close"

"I love my tiny neighborhood, the biggest issue I have it the village raising the water bill by 33%...you’d be fine being a solo person. But if you’re in a house with five people and having to do laundry and showers your 2month bill could be $220"

"There isn’t a clear space for dog walkers. Many of the dog walkers walk I. The middle of the street which is pretty rude, especially after it becomes dark. Otherwise there’s a tennis court where you can close it off and have your dog run around when no one is using it."

"I lived here for 3 months and love the neighbors and the neighborhood. Its clean, everything is accessible. I enjoy that its quiet and peaceful. I love the fact that I'm literally 5 million away from Walmart and 10 minutes away from Spring Hill Mall. And also in walking distance of downtown East Dundee."

"Immanuel school is close by and a great community. public schools are a little rough in the area. Lions Park replaced equipment recently (2017/18) and a super fun place for kids to run. "

"love the area, most homes are well kept with good curb appeal. the only reason we will likely leave is to find an area with more young kids around our child's age."

"plenty of trails to walk, pet parking at shops. very dog friendly area. between the fox river trail, and abundance of paths and sidewalks it is easy to find places to go with your furry friends. "

"We've lived here for 6 years. Most of the neighbors know each other, and some of them are staff at our kids' school. We're within walking distance of the park, our kids' school, our eye doctor, and a favorite family restaurant. There are no sidewalks, but neighbors are friendly and generally look out for one another. "

"It’s quiet. Close to the main highway. Good quality landscaping. One thing though this is for all of East Dundee, you can’t park your car over night on the street. Kinda sucks! Overall it’s a good place to call home "
