We moved from the Bozeman SD for a smaller school and it was a huge mistake. We are leaving this district for good. If you have an average student they will probably be fine, but if you have a high achieving student or a student who needs help (IEP or otherwise), this is not your district. The special education program's incompetence is well known throughout the state. Get a parent advocate and be prepared to fight for simple requests. College bound students have limited opportunity for challenging electives and AP. School board is a disaster and the president has been there 30 years of "let's not be Bozeman", deterring better teachers and admin from applying. The staff coddles troubled students if they are athletes at the expense of other students safety. Persistent bullying by the same few students results in several students leaving with no accountability for the bully. There are some excellent teachers despite their leadership or lack there of. Unfortunately the culture of this school is toxic and worse every year.

I too went to this school, and while there are a lot of teachers that attended TFS and returned to teach that's not necessarily a bad thing. There are cliques, but I would say it is more so with sports- particularly basketball. Even with that said, when I wanted to try golf the coach expanded himself for me to do so, even lending me a set of clubs. While I can't personally compare to other schools in the area I guarantee it is a lot better school overall than any Colorado school. And while I can't speak for the elementary portion, if you're displeased you may find it gets better in middle and high school. My graduating class had 12 valedictorians with GPA's 4.0 to 4.12. Also, it seems all the staff really to try to take the time and get to know each student.

The teachers as a whole a great, with Mr. Overman being the best. But the new principle is very difficult (Robert DoBell) and generational Three Forks kids get into very little, if any trouble for things that are worse than the troublemakers who are new do. Strongly reconsider enrollment if your child has a history of any trouble.
