Description
This property is no longer available to rent or to buy. This description is from August 15, 2023
This is a unique offering that is not to be missed. These 141-acres lying gracefully in the heart of the Santa Lucia Highlands has been carefully developed into an income-producing property with consistently high demand as a short-term rental or a full-time residence or family retreat just above the gates of Sleep Hollow Vineyard. Two yurts developed in 2015-2016 create opportunities for visitors to bask in the beauty of the Salinas Valley w/ a feeling of a complete getaway. The property is beautifully landscaped with over 100 fruit trees and a sense of tranquility that cannot be found this close to Salinas. Critically, the water infrastructure has been fostered to provide abundant supply w/ three powerful springs w/ approved domestic use, a shared well & 28,000-gal of storage w/ a chlorinator. There is an additional structure w/ one bed and a chefs kitchen ideal for cooking large meals. This is one of the Salinas Valley's hidden gems and its potential is only beginning to be revealed.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI taught In GUSD one year (2015-16), and this previous review pasted here, confirms what I discovered:Many great kids, many great staff, but weak leadership including the union, and district administration, especially the subversive Superintendent. The facilities are OLD and run down. Look at them before you sign a contract! Teachers looking to work here be forewarned- do NOT, I repeat DO NOT, let the salary schedule or the potential $5000 bonus, or insurance tempt you. Great staff has been released these past several years-almost every teacher hired is released by the 2nd year. Just this past 3/15 deadline the Board agreed they made the right decision in approving the release of up to 17 probationary teachers including 5 science teachers from the MS and HS. Morale is low and being in the grip of Program Improvement with no end in sight doesn't help. Instead of turning over teachers not given time to learn the district required programs like GLAD before the decision is made to release them, perhaps it's time to look at the performance of the Superintendent and her 2 Asst. Superintendents. Ask what changing them and other admin. would accomplish. They are "not the right fit" for this district. If they were, they would keep more teachers; morale and scores would go up.Teacher Review7y ago - Fairview Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAlthough students are predominantly Hispanic, at about 90% of the population, students are subjected to racism by some teachers. The school lacks the resources and qualified faculty to offer students a superior education. The academic statistics back up this theory. The principal does not seem to be the right fit as he lacks the training needed to deal with young children and he seems to be a bit clueless as he doesnt know some of the basic things going on in the school. For such a small town of just over 8,000 residents, 30% of which are under 18yo, the school seems to be overcrowded at almost 500 students, ranging from 6-8th grade. Some of the faculty members demeanor is very unwelcoming to the students as some treat kids as if they were a nuisance instead of OUR FUTURE. Sadly this is the only middle school in town and most parents cannot travel the 50mile+ round trip to Salinas every day to search for a better alternative.Parent Review8mo ago - La Gloria Elementary School

"many schools, very cute & quiet suburban neighborhoods, great parks all over, fresh produce at great prices like you'll never see anywhere else. Very temperate climate, lovely sun afternoons in summer never over 90 which is nice in my opinion & also never below 25 in winter so never too too cold which is also very nice. "

"It takes forever to get anywhere in Salinas. It’s an old town, much of which had been preserved for the sake of it being John Steinbeck’s hometown. This means narrow streets, minimal parking, and lots of congestion. There are only a few streets which connect “Old Town” to the newer developments... which calls for lots of traffic on those roads."

"It takes a long time to get anywhere. The most nearby shops are on super-congested Main St, and the major shopping stores are all the way across town. Planning your shopping trips for only one day in each week will minimize headaches and time stuck in traffic. "

"Schools are good all walking distance from each other and surrounding neighborhoods. 2 grocery stores close. As of lately an overwhelming presence of police when they could be on the other side of town where it needed. Borderline harassment when daughter walks our dog and police drive by and blind her by shining white lights at her. Unacceptable."
