6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur family's experience at Bonny Doon School has been wonderful. We started at the Community Preschool (located on the lower campus) and then progressed to the elementary school, an easy and welcoming transition. Our children have loved each teacher they have had, and as a parent, I have felt heard and supported any time I come to the staff with questions or concerns. When my children have excelled in areas of study, their teacher reaches out and provides greater challenges. When my children have needed a little extra support, it has been given and then some. Especially over the past two years, there have been more and more community gatherings for school families and opportunities for involvement, something I understand dropped all over the state during and after Covid. We loved going to the Friendsgiving potluck and family picnic this year, among other events the school hosted. Both of our children have also participated in after school activities - Spanish and music as well as West African drumming - and look forward to new classes available next year!Parent Review1y ago8 Reviews - Mission Hill Middle School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSome teachers seem unmotivated and waiting to retire. Some teachers rely on group work due to large class sizes, which means the smart kids get bullied to provide answers while the other kids goof off. No accountability. Social dynamics foster exclusivity, racism, and bullying with no oversight or consequences from admin.Parent Review2y ago10 Reviews - Santa Cruz High School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has thrived at SCHS. He is a high achieving kid and loves Math Academy and advanced science classes. The teachers have been really engaged and communicated their passion for their subject matter effectively as well as offering terrific instruction. He also likes the relative diversity of the school and how it's a community with all different kinds of people. The more vocational classes (auto, bike, ceramics, etc...) also seem excellent. Lots of different sports, theater and band, something for everyone. The principal is also amazing. I think that she goes above and beyond as a leader to foster an environment where everyone feels like they have a place and are welcomed. No school is going to be perfect for everyone all of the time, but I feel like SCHS is a great model of what a thriving public high school can be. I also really like that while my son has enough work to learn and stay engaged, he isn't drowning in homework and doesn't seem stressed the way that I know some kids are in other parts of Silicon Valley. Couldn't be happier.Parent Review2y ago7 Reviews - Check out schools near Pine Flat Rd.

"Dog owners would live walking their dogs in a leash on neighbor streets, down Bethany Curve to WestCliff. There are two beaches nearby that allow dogs to be off-leash before 9:00am and after 4:00pm"

"It is safe and the schools are good. People are authentic and generally want to do good. Teaching kids bike safety would be very useful and the parks are fun! "

"Lived here for 2 years. Just off the beach. Cars are broken into regularly. I never leave anything in my car to prevent break ins. Bikes are stolen all the time. And if our apartment wasn’t hidden behind a large house I would worry about being broken into. It’s a hippy city and surfer and bro mentality or old ppl who don’t want it to change EVER ....the beach aspect is nice. But we are moving soon and I won’t be sad to leave. "
