Jo Ann (the vice principal) is a bully and demonstrates passive aggressiveness towards other adults, which creates a very toxic environment. The principal doesn't even respond to emails or phone calls. The teachers are nice and seem to genuinely care about the kids. If the administration fails, how can the school function? I was contacted about a field trip, gave a clear “no,” and was told my daughter would stay on campus. Instead, the school took her off-site without my consent, after calling her dad for verbal permission — violating both AAPS policy (which requires written permission) and my parenting time rights. I was never informed of the change.When I raised the issue, the principal praised the teacher for “going above and beyond” rather than acknowledging the serious breach in communication and trust. This is part of a larger pattern where I repeatedly learn critical information from my children — not from the school.Parents deserve transparency and respect. As an alumnus of Scarlett Middle I have nothing but good to say about it. They really make it feel like one big family. I always felt like I had someone to talk to whether that be academically or mental health wise. Would recommend

Our kids never felt like they “had” to go to school @Huron. They understood and felt comfortable with going to school. The school explains very well the personal needs & goals they were trying to accomplish. All my kids were able to explain their goals & options. They teach a “worldly” view instead of only a “book” view which helped them want to learn. The staff is attentive & suppoettive to any changes with grades & never let grades to keep going down without intervention and offering help. As many kids as they have, it shows how good they are knowing many other schools with way less kids dont care if that happens until grades are failing.
