9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSadly, this school put my child with special needs in danger and then completely abandoned her. This was our home district and we were happy to get my children into what we thought was a kind and inclusive school community. The problem at Miles wasn't the teachers, they are caring and creative, the problem is poor resources and ineffective and inflexible administration. The district will try to get out of paying anything they can for students with special needs. I had a letter documenting my child's need for an aide from her developmental pediatrician and they had the data from the school showing she clearly needed 1:1 support but they still would not provide it due to the cost. When my 5 year old got away from her teacher who was in charge of a whole kindergarten class and ran into a busy street they finally recognized that she needed some aide support. That was several months into the year when she had already been endangered by their reckless policies. Then when school went to online only in March 2020 and my 6 year old child with special needs could not learn that way, admin just gave up and refused to educate her. They would not bring her in for tutoring or any services, nothing, even though her special ed teacher recognized that she could not learn online and wanted to teach her in person and felt she could do it safely, admin refused and completely abandoned her. The school has remained shuttered for an entire year now, 12 months, to students who desperately needed in person education, what a travesty, I feel terribly for any students stuck in TUSD who needed in person education and have list out on so much. I am so incredibly thankful we got our kids into CFSD, they are doing an excellent job educating all children safely even during a challenging year and are a much more welcoming and inclusive community!Parent Review5y ago6 Reviews - Safford K-8 School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had three boys here. Two for 6th and one for kindergarten. I had heard that the school welcome children who are autistic. All three or mine are. They definitely did not. The only two that actually helped my boys was ms Alexis and ms Simpson whom my oldest loved. One of my 6th graders got into trouble for doodling in class weapons from fallout. He was suspended for it. Depicting violence I guess. No matter how much they explained it and justify it to make sense; neither my husband or I understand. We just agreed and moved on. My oldest got bulled a lot. Shoved into lockers (both older boys did really). Once both my boys defended themselves after telling teachers they got into trouble. I once witnessed my 5 year old get yelled at by the teacher as soon as I dropped him off. I was shocked at the way she yelled from across the room to ask him to put something down. The principal called this “strict”. Once my son had an incident where I had become upset and I had to calm him. I finally got him to calm down then the principal “dr” Kuhn came in and she upset him again, triggered him, and she then walked away. I had to then restrain him because he began to get violent. My sister and my mom were there to witness he do this. They do not know how to help children on the spectrum and I don’t think they should be yelling at kids.Parent Review11mo ago11 Reviews - Carrillo Intermediate Magnet School

We have a close knit staff and staff members that stay through the years and even generations! Our Fine Arts Specialists are top in their field for teaching young minds through the visual and performing arts. The Principal, Lori Conner, is a strong leader who listens to her staff and works along side each of them to make Carrillo a home away from home for staff members!Teacher Review10y ago11 Reviews - Tucson Magnet High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe rating of Tucson High does not doo it justice and is not reflective of the amazing nature or offerings of this school! This is an inner city Arts and Science Magnet school with ample performing and visual arts opportunities, as well as opportunities for science overlap at the nearby U of A. I know mostly about the arts and my daughter participated in theater, dance, orchestra, photography, and digital design. There is also film, musical theater, steel drums, many kinds of dance including Folklorico, and art curating as well as other visual arts classes.Parent Review4mo ago5 Reviews - University High School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school sets you up well for the future with a great counseling department and effective teachers. Yes, there is a hefty workload, but this is communicated to incoming students before they enroll. It has a good environment and a helpful staff. If a student can stick with it and get through their freshman year, I can guarantee they will be successful through their high-school career and beyond.Other Review4y ago16 Reviews - Tucson Unified Virtual Academy

"Good neighborhood I like it but everyone has their own opinion about things. I lived here for about 2 years and had no problems it’s very quiet but be careful because sometimes we get some wild animals time from time but other then that I don’t have any complaints."

"Nice 3.5 mile bike commute to the UofA. Decent bus routes and streetcar option, but cycling is convenient and safe on bike lanes and routes the whole way. "

"I was raised in this neighborhood and absolutely love it. Most of the neighbors are original owners (since 1956) or they are younger generations of the same families. People are friendly, loving, and protective of one another but not at all intrusive. The area is safe, traffic is slow, and people jog along our street, walk their dogs, and ride their bikes. Many people come to our corner of the neighborhood to visit the little chapel across the street. There is a shrine to El Seor de los Milagros, a Jesus crucifix that has been in my neighbor’s family for over 500 years. Visitors from around the world, as well as a steady stream of locals, pray and make pilgrimages to this little chapel. I believe prayers and a connection to God resonate at a very high frequency, and it is a privilege to have given life to a lovely house, in the same corner as this beautiful and powerful energy. I have no doubt Menlo Park is an up-and-coming neighborhood. It is as close as you can get to downtown without being in the high rent district. Within a short walk is a Farmer’s Market, a trolley/street car, the Santa Cruz River exercise trail, and a Pima College campus. The U of A is only 3 miles away and the freeway is 1/2 mile away. Needless to say, this location hits a lot of target areas and is a hub of activity. I will always love this neighborhood and no matter where I live in the world, I will forever be a Menlo Parker at heart."
