4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHawthorne has had a bad image in the past, but it has done wonders to turn it around. There are many programs in place dedicated to supporting students and their needs. Some of these programs include after-school tutoring, therapy, intervention specialists, ELD support, AP classes, academies, etc. The school district also offers teachers regular professional development (some required and some optional). The majority of teachers on this campus are passionate educators who truly care about the students. For the most part, the students at the school are happy to be here and ready to learn.Teacher Review9y ago10 Reviews - Leuzinger High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNot so good of a reputation so it was scary to enroll my son here but it’s actually a great school. My son has told me he gets along very well and very little to none bullying you see. I’ve met the teachers they are very nice and so is the staff. Teachers are strict though but it’s a good school.Parent Review4y ago7 Reviews - Lawndale High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am very concerned for mine and any child’s safety at this school. My child got bullied, called racial slurs and was harassed by the soccer team. I am very disappointed in the school system not protecting my child in need especially when reaching out for help. There needs to be repercussions for the actions of the soccer team. Parents please keep your children safe!!!Parent Review3mo ago14 Reviews - Billy Mitchell Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have three children currently attending Billy Mitchell Elementary and have had only positive experiences. The school is diverse and has excellent teachers and great leadership. I am extremely grateful for all the teachers my children have had. Their pre-school and kindergarten teachers had laid out a great foundation. Their first grade teacher has taught them confidence, 'can do' attitudes and the love of reading! Their second grade teacher is great. My kids love the garden and are learning so much about the environment. I find it easy to communicate with the staff and my concerns are addressed with genuine interest.Parent Review12y ago2 Reviews - Jane Addams Middle School

"Lived here for a few years. Very safe neighborhood. Close to freeways, tons of grocery store nearby. Not much in terms of nightlife which is fine, but Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach piers were our go to for a date night. Weather is 11/10. Never too hot because you’re still close enough to the beach breeze."

"My neighborhood is pleasant. Most homes are modest with scarcely scattered expensive home throughout. Schools could be better but modest, older homes have sourced low to middle wage earners. Still some areas, Southwest Lawndale is pretty safe. "

"Nice place to live but housing is expensive. Before 4th of July, too many people in the area set off fireworks at night so it’s difficult to sleep at times."

"Close to the freeway- 15 minute drive to beaches. Neighborhood is older with various types of homes and homeowners. Lots of dogs run free without owner or off leash with owners. Area near train tracks is loud. Fireworks everyday at some point just loud and obnoxious. "

"My commute isn’t bad. I drive to the Torrance/Redondo Beach area. It is scary at times as there are some younger people with fast cars that drive somewhat recklessly down some of the smaller one way streets, which makes it unsafe. There aren’t many lights either that aid us to getting onto the major streets (Inglewood, Artesia and Hawthorne). "

"I would like for them to pick up there dog poop if they walked their dogs. Or if they let their dogs loose at least walk with them to pick up after them. Dog owners would also like if they made dog parks doe they can take their pets there to play and meet other neighbors with dogs. "
