Types of apartment in Santa Fe, NM

Santa Fe apartments often sit in low-rise stucco buildings with flat roofs, wood beams, and small courtyards. Near Downtown and the Railyard, apartments can be in older adobe-style buildings or updated mixed-use blocks with balconies and shaded walkways. Around South Capitol, you can also find small casitas and older houses for rent with thick walls, brick floors, and compact kitchens. These places often have strong exterior character, but storage, laundry, and parking can vary a lot.
On the south side near Cerrillos Road and Midtown, apartments are often newer garden-style complexes with larger parking lots and simpler exteriors. In Tesuque-adjacent north areas and around Museum Hill, houses for rent can be more spread out, with fenced yards, stucco walls, and gravel drives instead of garages. Many apartments in Santa Fe trade height for outdoor space, so patios are common while elevators are less common. Interiors often include tile floors, fireplaces, and smaller windows, which can affect light and furniture layout when you rent.
