"This is an EXCELLENT home, neighborhood, location, AND OPPORTUNITY for a young family starting out. Walk to school, to the library, to the park, to church - shucks - just walk! Chrisney is a quiet 5 block by 3 block community with a convenient store, gas station, car repair, hardware store, diner, post office, farm store, all utilities including high speed internet and cheap natural gas. Come take a look and imagine the possibilities. DESCRIPTION: Located on the corner of Locust and Church streets, this Circa. 1890's home was built by J. B. Chrisney family as a wedding gift for his daughter. It is located across the street from what was then the Chrisney High School and is now the award winning Chrisney Elementary School and also the nation's first solar powered public library. There are 5 churches, a hardware store, convenience store, gas station, community park, golf course, and fire station - all within walking distance! "I lived in Chrisney from birth in 1955 until 1977. My parents still own farms outside of Chrisney and we have many family members living in the community. It is a small, quiet community of rich history and a sometimes uneasy mix of tired, once bustling commerce and state of the art facilities. A main street row mostly robbed of it's once impressive archetecture, shares space in this 4 x 10 block community with one of the highest ranked public elementary schools in the state of Indiana and a new public library that features 100% solar powered building. Walking along it's quiet streets is a community past-time, and a city park and county fairground and community 4-H center make it an excellent place to raise kids and instill values by living example. More than a half dozen churches have served the small community for over a hundred years. Everything in Chrisney is within walking distance! It has a well stocked , full service hardware store, convenience store, full time post office, and several annual festivals from churches, 4H, and the town's own community Fall festival. Incidental amineties incluse ample street lighting throughout the town and town-run utilities for water, sewer, and natural gas. Chrisney is located 1 mile from the new 4 lane divided highway US231 and the new bridge linking it with Owensboro to the south, and Holiday World / Splashin' Safari theme park to the north, just an hour and 10 minutes from Louisville, KY to the east, and the hustling, bustling city of Evansville to the west.
