What Locals Say about Waterford

"It is a great area to walk dogs, long walks, short walks, it’s a nice neighborhood. plus the Connecticut College arboretum is down the street which is also a nice place to walk. "
  • Mjcalkins817
"Not like route 32 nearby. I’m always afraid my dogs will get loose and hit by a car. The neighborhoods are nice and the Conn college arboretum is down the road, so that’s a nice place to go and walk your dogs"
  • Kelley.dugan
"Some dog owners in the area let their dogs off leash and have little control over them. For shy, small, or aggressive dogs, it is a problem and caution is needed. But everyone is also very understanding of dogs and dog owners and everyone cleans up after their pets well! Very few cats as well."

"Everyone walks their dogs often and all pets in the neighborhood are super friendly! Most yards are fenced so every now and again you’ll see a friendly face pop over the fence to say hi. Some barking in the neighborhood but nothing crazy "

"Very quiet. Wooded area. Families have been living since 1995 (since it has been built). Not a condo. One of the home owner takes responsibility to hire a lawn mower and snow removal contractor."
  • Bob B. A. V. W.
"Good area frequently patrolled by police, many dead ends and closed off neighborhoods which means no thru traffic for the most part. Myrock Ave, specifically does have a busy street during workday hours however, the cable company always has CL&P trucks on stand-by during storms so we never lost power in the 5 years between 20010-2015. Family neighborhood, kids walk to the end of the street for the bus safely without incident. Police run radar from the dead end occasionally, they really don't do it enough and the street should have a stricter speed limit or physical alterations to help control the occasional speeding car. Waterford residents tend to look out for each other in general if you haven't lived in the town before, having lived in 4 areas myself over my lifetime. This may boarder New London, however it is a good section of the city and has wonderful residents responsible for up to $1M properties so do not worry, both areas of both municipalities are above average nowadays in CT. With all of this being said, some of it not said enough, investing in this general area isn't a bad idea, we made a great gain on our home and have moved on to another investment. "

"Grew up visiting the Strand with family. I have rarely lived on a street where everyone knew everyone's name and you would meet your neighbors as you walked to the beach in the morning. It is very unique - and I brings me back to a simplier, better time of life."
  • Luca M.
"Walk over the bridge to beautiful downtown Niantic. Water views from the house! Easy access to everything you need. 10 minutes to EB and Pfizer!"
