What Locals Say about Wagram

  • Anita R. G.
"No public transport; I drive about 35 min each way, several days a week. 15 min to shop, vet, hair salon."
  • Elisabeth w.
" Like many military families, my husband and I had a single weekend to find a home while PCSing to Ft. Bragg. Before we arrived, I did a significant amount of research, but was initially skeptical about Wagram because their was a lack of information about the area, and Mainstreet can appear a bit scruffy. After living here for six months, I can honestly say that I am so glad that we went ahead and purchased a home in this community. We have lived all over the USA and Europe, and never have I received such a warm welcome. When we first arrived neighbors brought us baskets of pecans, homemade preserves, and enough soup to feed our family of six for a week. Wagram is the kind of community where neighbors come over just for a visit, and are always happy to lend a hand. A couple of weeks ago, I was weeding our plot at the community garden, and an elderly gentleman that I had met only once stopped by to lend us a hand. To reach the Chicken Run gate it takes about 25-30 minutes, however, it is pretty much a traffic free ride the entire way to post. My husband experiences a bit of traffic right at the gate in the mornings, but I think there are only two traffic lights between here and post. Southern Pines and Aberdeen are only about 20 minutes away. This probably isn't a prime location for single adults. There are no restaurants and bars in the town itself, but it is the perfect place for families. I feel that children are seen as a valued part of this community. Currently, there are active Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops right here in Wagram, and if you have children with a musical inclination nearby Laurinburg (15 minute drive) has top notch music instructors at St. Andrew University. Also, your money goes a lot further for housing in this area. If we had bought in Fayetteville, we would have been able to afford a three bedroom ranch on a postage stamp lawn. Here in Wagram, we purchased a five bedroom home on nearly two acres. Love this place! "
