  • Tammy
"Great community. Personalized. Nice parks. Good schools. Transportation can be challenging. People tend to look out for each other. "
  • Tammy
"A small community with a hometown feel. Relatively low crime. A variety of restaurants. Limited activities."
  • Ashley A.
"This is a great retirement community. Unfortunately, children/family oriented. There aren't many city sponsored community events geared towards the youth of the community, i.e. Easter egg hunts, 4th of July events, youth enrichment programs and after school activities that don't cost money. "
  • Janelbrough
"Every one gets along with each other. We look out for each others families and homes. Everyone is friendly and active"
  • Matthew G.
"Facebook and Nextdoor are two apps that are frequented by the HOA and act as our community portals for communication, including Neighborhood Watch programs"
  • Nicole C.
"The community events are mostly in the spring and summer, people enjoy yard/garage and estate sales. Usually hosted by multiple families. There are also many favorite swimming and fishing areas. Fall and winter months are quieter, and begin with back to school in September, followed by Halloween when people enjoy the pumpkin patch and activities thereof. Of course Thanksgiving is next and is typically celebrated with family. November 30 through December 30th is the Festival of Lights. The largest, most extravagant Christmas lights display of the Pacific Northwest. Many activities available to people of all ages, rental cabins available for a magical weekend filled with exciting activities to keep everyone in the holiday spirit. Stanwood / Lakewood area is quiet area with a country feel while still having easy access to the University of Washington medical center, big box stores such as Costco and grocery stores are local and easily accessible. If country living with the convienance of the city is something that you would enjoy then Stanwood and surrounding areas are where you need to be. "

"Pretty tame, becoming crowded and more expensive. Everything is pretty close to each other, it's a long drive from Seattle."
  • Princexdithka
"lived here, born and raised. People feel safe enough to leave their garage doors open. Though it is quickly becoming more densely populated. Currently moving out as they are building 126 more houses near my neighborhood."
  • flyn2loh
"Stanwood has evolved to be a town that has all the charm of country living yet all the benefits of a large city. They have multiple retail outlets, a top rated school district, very eclectic variety of restaurants, medical facilities with top notch physicians, yet within minutes to I-5 that takes to you all the fun and recreational areas this state has to offer. Very easy commute the north or the south. "
