What Locals Say about Radford

  • Carlsonavery3
"This is a college town. There are lots of parties and traffic during school hours and weekends. Sidewalks available, but drivers aren't always safe"
  • Wejessie56
"Near the college is not recommended if you have kids. It’s a good school, but just like any other campus in America on a Friday night- there’s kids partying hard. "
  • Meltrent23
"Good restaurants, easily accessible. Friendly people, dog walking area. Parks and walking trails. Great schools and teachers"
  • Ktiglg04
"It’s a great place to live I go to school here and find that the people are very kind even more so than my hometown I would definitely recommend living here"
  • Anna W. R.
"I’ve lived in this area for 25+ years. For the most part it’s a nice place to live. The electricity is higher than norm but it very rarely goes out. We do have a University here with that beings positive and negative aspects. We have a lot of park and recreational outdoorsy things to do. We are a quite little city. "
  • Aptucker
"I’m sure dog owners would love the fact that there are lots of sidewalks, we are near the park, and river and there are several paths, trails, and even a dog area in the park all within a short 20 min walk or so. "
  • Liz S.
"I don’t know this area well. Just visiting son at Radford University. Nice university town with friendly people. Not many families "
  • norareilly
"Live in the area. Great access to schools. Large fenced yard with 8' x10' matching shed in yard. Back patio also has hot tub. On a dead end street, so very little traffic. Nice landscaping. Small ground level decks in front and back. About 1.2 miles from RU."

    "Beautiful views and safe neihborhood"
  • Jessimcb
"This area has a little bit of everything! Radford has the small town feel with the vibrance and diversity of the University. Located in the New River Valley, this small independent city has plenty of variety at your fingertips. Fish, tube, kayak, run, walk or wade, people from all walks of life enjoy the New River and green space along it. Visit any of the local shops in the rustic downtown area. Not far from Christiansburg, Virginia Tech or Roanoke, and still just moments from the Appalachian trail and Jefferson National Forest, Radford perectly balances convenience and peace. Overall, a great place to live and relax!"
  • Losttimeb
"I have lived here going on 15 years. There is no shopping, no night life, and very poor road-West Main Street, also poor lighting for the people that live in this area. This end of town is dead!!! Lots of traffic that is never doing the speed limit for a safe roadway. There needs to be more traffic control for SPEEDING tractor trailors. Law enforcement for people that have sales from thier homes all the time, and never pay taxes for the sales. This is likey why no retail will move into this ares. Lots of the homes in this area have asked the city to put up dust to dawn lights, its like, the city doesn't care about this part of the city. We are the forgotten part of the city. There needs to be job coming in and not leaving. "
