Types of apartment in Omaha, NE
Omaha apartments range from older brick walk-ups to newer mixed-use buildings, and the style changes a lot by area. In Midtown, Dundee, and Blackstone, many apartments sit in early 1900s brick buildings with stone trim, small entry canopies, and shared front steps. In Benson and Aksarben, you can also find renovated houses split into apartments. Downtown and around the Old Market, apartments often sit in converted warehouses or newer mid-rise buildings with large windows, secured entries, and structured parking. Many units have hardwood floors, radiator heat, or updated kitchens mixed with older layouts.Farther west, around West Omaha, Millard, and Elkhorn, apartments often look newer and more spread out, with vinyl or stucco exteriors, surface parking, and larger complexes set back from the street. In South Omaha, you can still find smaller brick apartments and houses for rent on tighter blocks. Houses for rent show up across the city, from bungalows in Dundee to ranch-style homes in Millard. The tradeoff often comes down to building age, parking setup, stairs, and laundry access more than unit size.
