What Locals Say about Newport

  • CandiceM
"Sidewalks to walk dogs and a few parks nearby. No dog parks or fields meant for them to run in though. "
  • Rc Samson
"Ease of walking dogs. Must be licensed and leashed. Many dogs in our neighborhood allowed to bark at length all hours of day and night. Vicious dogs not attended to by local lawmen. "
  • Kthiemens
"The local law enforcement is both helpful and friendly. Lots of outdoor experiences are able to be had( fishing, hunting, ect)."
  • Trulia User
"Side walks are not completely wheelchair accessible or 100% throughout town. There are still dirt roads in town. Internet and power go out on a semi-regular basis. Local law enforcement is vigilant and happy to help."
  • koma0396
"Peaceful, Thought community's like this did not exist anymore...practically hand feed the Deer off the back deck !!! Wildlife every where. Very nice work shop with wood floor for the handy man....Do not think you would ever need it, as this place needs Nothing. Personally i am very disappointed, because i could not get approved for the loan."

"This is a very beautiful and peaceful property and home. This place has been well kept since the day it was built. The wild life is just amazing and also have been cared for. Whom ever buys this place is getting peace, comfort, and relaxation... trust me, I know, it's my parents home."
  • Robanddebi
"Very quiet street. Friendly neighbors. Very clean lake. Great fishing and lots of fun for kids."
  • Sunni J.
"We moved to this neighborhood two years ago. It backs up to a small national forest with several miles of walking trails. The neighborhood is within approx. a mile of hospital, schools, shopping and restaurants, but secluded with lovely trees. The homes are modern and well maintained. Kid-friendly, but quiet for seniors like us. This home backs up to the national forest for quick access to trails and privacy."
  • Mike M.
"We have lived in the Newport/Spring Valley area for over 30 years. If you enjoy nature and peace and quite, you will love this area. It is only 10 minutes from town and 45 minutes to Spokane and Coeur d'Alene. We have three ski areas within an hour drive, which the kids just love. The biggest problem is that you can't just pull over to talk on the cell phone, because the car behind you will pull over too, just to make sure you are OK. Can you tell we love living here?"
  • weeksandweeks
"This is a great place to live if you have horses or other livestock. If you like to hike, motorbike, snowmachine, hunt, fish, etc. 70% of the county is tied up in federal, state or county owned property, which means you can buy property and not have neighbors in your back yard. The veiws are spectacular. Spring, summer and fall weather is almost ideal. The winters are a bit harsh and long, but the electricity is cheap. Not a great place to live if you are elderly, only because of the snow. I would hate to be single in this county, though!"

"Have been to this property many times on Garden Tours and as a guest. The home and landscaping are meticulous, the views are the best in the entire river valley! What Trulia and other RE sites don't figure into is the expanse of property this place has and the views that go on for miles and miles! You cannot see it in a picture. Love watching all the eagles, ducks, osprey etc with the ringside seat from this property. Wish I could buy it myself! "
