What Locals Say about Monroe

  • Cailey P.
"Monroe doesn’t have a “sketchy” neighborhood or street. Overall it’s very safe and feels secure. At most, there might be a rowdy kid on a dirt bike."
  • Shong C.
"Everything’s within a 5 minute drive or less. Great local places to shop and dine at. Parks are great for walking and relaxing."
  • Sara C.
"Good school, nice parks. Police are very friendly and the community is great. Most people who have lived here, have lived here their whole lives."
  • Charis A.
"All the dogs in the area are friendly, most are larger and bark quite often which can be frustrating but they are all super nice and friendly when you actually interact with them. And the owners are usually decent about bringing their dogs in at night if they start to bark"
  • CP
"The streets leading into the High School parking lot are very busy with high school drivers. It’s especially busy around football season and students tend to speed out of the parking lot."
  • Kara B.
"There is lots of grass and low traffic. Everybody is friendly towards dogs and some people have treats ready"
  • inneressence2011
"I have lived in Monroe for 9 years and grow to love it more each day. The community is made up of friendly people, many family- oriented activities, great shops and restaurants, parks and the downtown square is incredible. We have our well known Cheese Days celebration every 2 years and it is non-stop fun with music, great food, carnival rides a 2-hour parade and SO much more!! Monroe is a nice place to visit and a better place to live. We are close to Madison, Janesville and Rockford, IL., which makes for an easy commute for work or play."
