What Locals Say about Kittery

  • Thomas.cowern
"It’s a great area; friendly, lots of walking trails, beach access, neighborhood parties, bbq’s, holiday events etc. very inclusive and welcoming for people from all walks of life. "
  • Mdesfosses
"Town is not integrated. We are a bedroom of Portsmouth. Community Center is good, but lack of cohesive sense of community"
  • Thomas.cowern
"I don’t. I’m retired and do not commute to work. Neighbors who commute do not complain about their commute. "
  • Molly Mchale
"Watch for traffic on a few streets but side streets are safe. Drivers seem careful in the residential sections "
  • Trulia User
"Access to Fort Foster and Fort McClary. Both have great water views. Chauncey Creek is picturesque. Pepperrell Cove is super fun when the weather is nice. "
  • GenineB_87
"I've lived in Kittery for five years now, it's got a small yet vibrant downtown area and I can walk to town in about 20 minutes. I can walk to Walgreens, the post office, and the farmers market. A short drive and I'm on the highway in no time at all. Obviously every town has its quirks and Kittery is no exception, though it has a lot more pros than cons. With the beaches nearby and plenty of trails nearby, it's a wonderful place to call home. The only thing I wish it had more of is affordable housing. Even where I live now (the Village) I'm seeing a rise in prices; finding affordable rentals and housing is pretty much non existent or those properties are being sold to folks from out of state (which I don't have a problem with because Kittery is fairly inclusive) but I wish there were more options for those of us who love staying in the community without having to worry if we can keep affording the rising expenses. Overall, I would happily stay in this neighborhood and in this town. "
  • Trulia User
"There are not enough sidewalks to walk safely in Kittery. I understand the township is addressing that issue, but it will take awhile."
  • Trulia User
"It is a very nice and fairly peaceful place to live especially for families and the school systems are great. "
