What Locals Say about East Hampton

  • Cmh2130
"Great place to raise a family. Even a nice place to retire. The local bars and restaurants are clean and friendly to all. The lake is a nice summer spot. School district could use more effort. Lived here for 5 years, my wife grew up here. "
  • Tulsi.connors1
"My neighborhood is amazing I knwo everyone and they are so nice I feel safe walking my dog and going outside it is a very homey community and I 100/10 recommended "
  • Just Me
"Where I live there are no children playing outside, there is constant traffic as it is a main road on the lake and very noisy"
  • Pharmdusp
"I’ve lived and worked here for the last 16 years and it is a great neighborhood to raise a family. Neighbors look out for one another. It is a very friendly and engaging town and there are a lot of community events to get everyone together. It is safe and there are plenty of things to do with the family. However, it is a small town and not near any major cities so public transportation is negligible. There are also not many major chain stores so if that is your thing it may not be for you. There is a large lake in town and it is a tourist attraction in the warmer months."
  • Missy B.
"It is 6 minutes to downtown East Hampton via car and via bus or car to downtown Hartford is a 30 minute drive."
  • Cindytreadway4
"I know of community events but no neighborhood events. Closing the lake to swimmers definitely put a damper on getting out into the neighborhood. "
  • Kkt1108
"They would love playing with other dogs, receive treats from neighbors and enjoy long walk in a safe community. "
  • "Some dogs are allowed to roam. Most are rarely if ever seen, no pit bulls in area. they’re not really very many to be seen. Most are inside "
  • Jennifer Beyer
"I've lived in this neighborhood for 18 years. It is a quiet neighborhood and people are friendly. Sidewalk around lake brings people together."
  • Laurie

"Not much really. We have a lounge we can rent out that’s pretty nice so that’s cool. And the view is nice. "
  • Carol a. K.
"East Hampton is a great place to raise your kids. I have a 14 year old and I also grew up in this town. My family has been here for 4 generations."
  • Rnapoletano
"You need a car, but Rt. 66 is 3 min. away, Rt. 2 is only min. away. Rt. 9 is about 15 min. away, as is downtown Middletown with some great restaurants. Downtown Hartford is about 25 min. away."
  • Dave
"most likely need to drive to the next biggest town to catch a bus or reasonable amount of job opportunities"
  • Sylvina R.
"Acreage ~ and ~ peace, a great place to enjoy all seasons and enjoy all the colors of the year. "
