What Locals Say about Bristow

Review Highlights

Bristow blends suburban comfort with parks, trails, and easy links to highways and VRE. People love the safety, top schools, friendly vibe, pools, parks, and close shopping. They dislike I-66 and school-hour jams, long DC commutes, event traffic, and pet waste.

"There are tons of dogs in the neighborhood. Having sidewalks on both sides of most streets is nice and there are doggy poo stations throughout the neighborhood "

"Commute will be better once 66 is wider. It usually backs up once you get to Manassas. Depending on the time of day matters."

"I’ve lived here for 7 years and have convinced friends to move here as well. People are friendly and lots of young families, tons of kids, and safe. "
  • David M. I.
"It’s kind of a far drive from DC, and I-66 during rush hour is a pain, but there’s easy access to the VRE train and the local buses in manassas. It’s also fairly easy to drive to the nearest metro stop and metro into the city to prevent driving, however going onto the interstate adds an unnecessary hour to you commute. Safe area, never felt unsafe at any time and is fairly quiet."
  • Delphine.caraguel
"I feel very safe here, kids play in the streets all the time, very active community and good schools."
  • Mrspradlin
"People walk their dogs here and rarely pick up after them. Need more dog areas with trash cans and plastic bags. "
  • Diane DePasquale
"I’ve lived here for almost 4 years. We have great neighbors and the neighborhood is beautiful and close to restaurants, grocery stores, main roads, etc."
  • Lindsay G.
"There are a lot of events in the surrounding area that are great for kids and families. There is also plenty to do for singles or couples with no children. "
  • Robin
"Family-friendly, close to good schools, restaurants and shops. Lots of amenities. Brand new luxury fitness center. Close to I-66."
  • Lindsay.anne.gadell
"I commute from Bristow to Chantilly and it usually takes me anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour depending on what time I leave the house. "
  • cyberblonde
"Lots of people own and walk their dogs regularly around here. There are great paths for walking, biking, etc. There are plenty of doggie bomb bag stations. They need to be used to pick up afterwards, they aren't just for decoration....some people come to this neighborhood to take advantage of others' good habits, which is not appropriate. "
  • cyber blonde
"I've lived here for over 16 years and I've feel like I have family here, even though my family is more than 750 miles away."
  • Ann G.
"We have lives here for 18 years. It has changed a great deal in that time. Better roads, more schools, much closer shopping. It is a great place to raise a family."
  • Anne B. F.

  • Dkcampise
"lived here for two years. Its a great area for families and even young couples. Quick and easy access to schools, shopping and highways."
  • Ernie B.
"I drive west so my commute is great unless there’s a concert at Jiffy Lube Live. In which case things can be a little crazy but nothing like the daily drive on 66 I used to do. "
  • Valerie
"Lots of young and active families here and in the surrounding area. Good school systems, active communities all around. Traveling to Fairfax county or DC is almost always awful. "
  • Anne B. F.
