What Locals Say about Fond du Lac

  • Pamela
"Our commute is great. There is access to major highways in each direction and they are easy to get to. There is also a city bus, taxi companies, and a bike trail/path for those who need alternative transportation."

"FDL is a nice town with friendly people. Very politically split but crime is limited to certain parts of town. Great parks for dogs and kids, and lots to do for families in the surrounding areas."

"We have lived here for 5 years. of course there are some streets that aren't the kindest, but thats in most big cities. most of the people you meet are friendly. There are so many jobs, shops, and social gathering in this city. "

"Short commute. Very little traffic. Roads are average and approaching being in need of repair. Only Johnson Street tends to get backed up during the morning and evening school and work hours."

"The people are friendly, but the Water bills are high. In the winter the main streets are kept clear but the side streets might not be plowed for several days after a have snow. Flooding is a major concern in a large part of the city."

"Children coming off side streets need to be watched for.. not only if you are turning into the r. oad - they come down the middle. and pull onto the sideways without checking if a vehicles are backing out (drivers are often blind on one side or the another of their vehicle. Cars do not aways have back cameras to see them. Kids already expect people to be able to see them because they've been exposed to the cameras on their parents vehicles"

"Less crime than most areas. The park is nice. Shopping is pretty much in two areas which is nice. I feel safe here. I feel it’s a good place for kids to grow up. The UBMS program for kids is amazing!"

"We’ve lived in our neighborhood for 15yrs and have loved every minute. It’s an old fashioned - yes you can borrow a cup of sugar neighborhood. People are always outdoors, friendly, helpful and willing to stop whatever they’re doing to talk. Most yards are extremely well kept. Dog walkers are conscious of pet etiquette. There is a really nice mix of people. Ages have run from newborn to newlywed, college, career, retired and even 103 yrs old. It’s a really nice place to come home to. "

"I’ve lived here since I was 4 and I’ve always loved it. Small town with lots of parks for my son to go to and a bike trail for hikes and biking. Traffic usually isn’t heavy unless school just got out. "
