What Locals Say about Lincoln City

  • Taylor.flowers19
"I have a peaceful commute that has at the most a school bus causing 5 cars for traffic in the mornings. Coming from Portland, I love that. "

"Lincoln City has gotten run down and seedy. Meth is infiltrating the schools, and the police dept is worthless. It’s filled with homeless now, and unsafe to walk around. People don’t pick up after their dogs either. "

"It's not really a neighborhood. More a collection of private second to third homes and VR. Almost all owners do not acossiate with each other. "

"Dog owners would like that their are many areas to walk your dog. New sidewalks that are being put in , even as I type this will make it much safer . It’s also only one and a half blocks from the beach so you can take your dog to the beach and let them run."

"I lived in this neighborhood for 14 years. Prior I lived in Hawaii and in the Bay Area of CA. While the weather is warmer in both of those areas...the people are warmer here. Very friendly and always willing to chat or help at the drop of a hat. Rare to hear a honking horn even if you don't go the second the light turns green. It is laid back, mellow and real. Also, the raw beauty of the coast never get old, the beaches range from solo experiences to lightly used and many allow bonfires and even cars on them. The seafood is authentic fare and fresh with lots of great places to dine. I love living and working here on this amazing coast!"

"I love the Cutler City neighborhood. It's peaceful, and everywhere in the neighborhood is a short walk to the Siletz Bay, with its great views and long stretches of sandy beach. Seems like a forgotten jewel in an otherwise long, narrow city that follows busy Hwy 101. That said, there are a couple of things I'm not as fond of about this neighborhood as I am other areas in Lincoln City. 1) It's on the bay, not the ocean. 2) Cutler City is residential, with no easy walk to any store or other amenity, and, 3) being an area with a lot of low-income homes/rentals, and pretty much out of the public eye, the safety factor doesn't seem as good as it is in other parts of town. This is NOT one of those upscale, gated communities with HOAs and their restrictions and rules about how you can live in the neighborhood, so there is less control over your neighbors, or what they're up to. Still, when we were looking to purchase a home in LC, this was a neighborhood that we had a lot of interest in. It was just pure luck that we found our dream beach home in the Oceanlake neighborhood, instead :-)."
