This was the best school I ever attended. I was here pretty much all my elementary school years. Everything was always positive and calm. The special education program was very good. And I don’t know if they still do it, but battle of the books was very great. The teachers are also great. Definitely the only school I remember fondly. The only thing I didn’t like was you weren’t allowed to talk at lunch when the music was playing. If it would’ve been some music other than opera music, the Forrest Gump theme song, or the Beatles on piano though, it’d have been fine. Maybe they’ve changed that, if not though, I’d recommend something that appeals to today’s youth, like instrumental pop or country. I’m in 10th grade now and this school definitely influenced me for the better.

Fantastic School with Wonderful Teachers!This school has been such a positive experience for my child. The teachers are caring, easy to talk to and to contact, and truly make learning enjoyable. They take the time to help students understand and feel confident in what they’re learning. There are also lots of fun activities and opportunities for students to get involved, which really helps them grow and feel part of the school community.I don’t know the principal personally, but he has a great presence and is always very nice to kids and parents. Since attending this school, my child has gained so much confidence and really enjoys going every day. We’re so thankful for the welcoming environment and the wonderful staff who make this school such a great place to learn!

After our experience with our child's elementary school, I was so disappointed with Northwest Middle. All three years have been a struggle. Each year, I've spoken to the teachers and asked them to personally contact me through email or text (not through BackPack, where it gets lost in all the other announcements) if my son is falling behind, as he has a tendency to "forget" things or be afraid to ask questions, and then scramble to catch up. In 3 years, only 2 teachers have reached out to me; and then one went on maternity leave before the second semester of his 8th grade year, so every year was a struggle.I already have a busy life and a job of my own. I do my best to keep on top of my child's schoolwork, as well. But if the teachers aren't reaching out when they see a problem, then they aren't helping me help my child. I can't do my job, the majority of the housework, and theirs, as well. It's a shame, because the band program is amazing, and the way it works with the neighboring high school (along with the honors program) should make this a stand-out school for fast-tracking your student on their high school career.
