this school is ok but if the emotional support was beater i wood not have 2 lives reling on me and the kids are mean

Staff are at doors in the morning as students arrive. Staff look unhappy and frustrated. No good morning or smiles to students. Especially the dean that stands at doors at the drop off at the south entrance ( the drop off near cobra pride way. No smiles from her! Annoyance written on her face. Really think about this! She is the first face that some students see in the morning! My child has mentioned several times how teachers have CNN on in their classroom during the entire period. A lot of homework. I agree with homework but the amount given is ridiculous. The student/teacher ratio is off and homework overload appears to be teacher solution to having too many students - give them the work to be completed in class to do at home plus their typical homework.Sports: girls soccer coaches- is this volunteer or are you making a side hustle fee? These girls are losing respect for you. Life is hard and at the end of the day we are tired us parents understand but you signed up for this and if you can't commit and teach and coach these girls then let it go. My daughter and I have attended each game because she is interested in playing and I see no passion in the two coaches. I see exhaustion in the and the team being torn to pieces on the field by their opposing team. On a positive note- the principal does appear to genuinely care! He listens and cares for his students, staff and school. He is genuinely proud! I hope he reads this and considers making a few changes.Also, guidance counselors seem to be in there for the right reasons! Thank you for treating our students with respect and being a listening ear for them. You are appreciated!I will choose that I would recommend this school because there is potential!

this school has cockroach's there's flies at lunch there is mold in the bread and there are kids who bully and there are kids crying because of teachers but and they have this thing where 5th grade can missed days of senior week because about 10 kids are bad so the whole 5th grade will suffer because of the bad kids.

i love this school no harassment or anything the teachers are nice so 10 out of 10

While SLW K-8 has positive aspects, my experience regarding communication and classroom interactions with several teachers has been concerning. Responses to parent inquiries have often been delayed or unclear, making it difficult to stay informed about student progress and expectations. Additionally, some interactions appeared to lack patience and effective communication, which impacted the overall learning experience. Consistent, respectful communication and a supportive teaching approach are essential for student success, and I hope the school addresses these areas to better support both students and families.

Think about putting your kids here i dont recommend it

The rating I gave back in 2015 was based on my personal experience as a student at this school, which was not the greatest. When I chose to send my daughter here, I had high hopes that things might have improved, but unfortunately, I couldn’t have been more wrong.To be fair, there are some wonderful teachers and staff who genuinely care about enriching children’s lives. I still keep in contact with a few of the teachers who truly impacted me as a student, and I’ll always be grateful for them.However, my recent experience as a parent—especially with an ESE student—has taught me how broken the system can be. The administration did not show the level of care and humanity that every child deserves. Sadly, this isn’t unique to this school; many public schools struggle in the same way unless you are one of the lucky ones.To other parents, my strongest recommendation is this: advocate fiercely for your child. If something doesn’t seem right, speak up. Hire education advocates if you can, reach out to your community for support, and educate yourself. Study your procedural safeguards, research the laws that protect ESE students, and learn the correct terminology and procedures—because the school will not guide you through them.We have since switched to another school, and the difference has been night and day. The empathy, care, and understanding we’ve experienced elsewhere made it clear how much we were missing at West Gate. You could not pay me to send another one of my children back here.To any parent who may be struggling: I wish you the best of luck, and please know you’re not alone.

Allapattah School has been a wonderful experience for my daughter and for our family. From the first day, she has felt welcomed, supported, and motivated to learn. The teachers are caring, patient, and truly dedicated to each child’s success. They take the time to understand every student’s needs and make learning fun, engaging, and meaningful. I have seen so much growth in my daughter—academically, emotionally, and socially—and that is because of the amazing teachers and staff who go above and beyond every day. I am truly grateful for Allapattah School and highly recommend it to any family looking for a loving and supportive learning environment.
