Whether you’re checking out the latest homes to hit the market or exploring new neighborhoods, Trulia is here to help guide you through every step of your home search. As a part of our mission to improve this journey, today we’re introducing a new, more personalized homepage for our mobile apps: Activity Feed.
We’re rolling out this new feature first to Trulia’s For Sale and Rentals apps for iOS and Android. In recent years, we’ve seen a big shift in how people search for homes, with many starting their search on their mobile phones. House hunters today are often looking up homes as they visit open houses, or powering up our apps to see what’s on the market currently near them when they’re out and about. In the last four years, searching for a home on mobile devices has overtaken desktop searches. Today, 70% of home searches on Trulia happen on mobile devices, up from 39% in 2013. This makes it all the more important to provide you with a personalized search experience on mobile.
With Activity Feed, Trulia can keep you up to date on homes you’re interested in (e.g., there’s an open house, a price change or a status change), show you new homes that match your search criteria and recommend new homes that you may be interested in. If you’re just getting started with Trulia, your Activity Feed will recommend homes for you based on your location.
Market research and home tips from Trulia experts are also incorporated into Activity Feed. This can be anything from advice on how to save up for a down payment or how to decorate a rental on a budget, to the latest housing economics reports on inventory levels or the cost-benefit analysis of renting versus buying.
Activity Feed is powered by Trulia’s proprietary algorithms, with updated content available in real-time. Each time you launch either Trulia’s For Sale app or Rentals app, you can easily see what’s new for you. To check out your Activity Feed, update your Trulia apps or download them for the first time, and let us know what you think in the comments below.
