Searching for a home on your mobile device just got even better. Today we’re excited to share we’ve completely redesigned our Trulia Android App to reflect Android Material design principles. Google recently released these principles as a guide to designing functional and elegant software, and by marrying our already simple and intuitive mobile interface with these principles, we’re giving you an even more enjoyable home search experience.
In the updated app, you’ll see a new tab navigation and interaction patterns for better control over your searching. For example, we now have ripple effects for touch feedback, so you know exactly what you’re clicking on, and floating action buttons that make it easier to navigate within the app and perform actions, like contacting an agent. We’ve also added new animations – now, when you go from viewing home photos to pulling up details of the property and its neighborhood, the sections of information expand and contract from each other, making them easier to read.
In addition to a fresh design, we’ve also added new features to our Android App. We’ve brought boards, already available on our site, and iOS and Android phone apps, to the Android Tablet to help you stay organized in your home search. With a simple tap on your mobile device, you can add your favorite properties to personalized boards and share them with your spouse, agent or family and friends easily across all Android devices.
And, we didn’t stop there. Leveraging Google’s Nearby technology, you can even invite someone to join a board based on your proximity to their device. Imagine searching for your dream house in Portland while on the couch next to your significant other and being able to browse independently but share your favorite homes in real-time. Co-shopping for a home just got a whole lot easier.
