Russell Simmons Lists His Hollywood Hills Home For $8.25M

The Def Jam founder is saying goodbye to his peaceful retreat.

Russell Simmons is on the move. The Def Jam co-founder and serial entrepreneur just listed his Balinese-inspired Hollywood Hills home for $8.25 million. He bought the stylish property, which even has its own hidden entry and lower level rock cave wine cellar,  back in 2013 for $5.877 million.

Located right above the Sunset Strip in the western Hollywood Hills, the Spanish-style home is a historic property reminiscent of Hollywood’s past. Built in 1937, the fully-gated, 14,321-square-foot lot is enveloped in mature landscaping, providing the utmost privacy. Inside, high ceilings and stone and wood floors create a perfectly executed floor plan throughout the 6085-square-foot home. On the main level, the living room and dining room are supported by an open kitchen and family room with a pitched, beamed ceiling. The first floor also has one en-suite guest bedroom. Upstairs, three en-suite bedrooms join the spacious master suite, complete with a fireplace, terrace, walk-in closet, and spa bath.  Ideal for entertaining, guests can sip a glass of wine in the 1500-bottle capacity wine cellar, or smoke a stogie in the cigar room and humidor. Outside, the magical, Bali-inspired grounds feature a sparkling swimming pool, outdoor dining area with a full BBQ, and an outdoor theater. There’s also and outdoor guest house and additional parking to make your guests feel right at home.

Simmons, who was previously married to fashion plate/reality star Kimora Lee Simmons, is known for his love of the finer things in life. You may recall his 7175-square-foot penthouse in Manhattan‘s Financial District, known as “Lady Liberty Penthouse.” Simmons repeatedly took that property on and off the market, including listing it for $11 million in 2012.
