Blockbuster Producer Michael Bay Lists L.A. Home For $13.5 Million

Mega-producer Michael Bay is selling his blockbuster Los Angeles home for $13.5 million.

The 4 bedroom, 6 bathroom home has nearly 8,000 square feet of living space, and is primely located in the celebrity enclave between Bel Air and the Holmby Hills in Los Angeles.

Bay is selling this estate because he recently completed construction on a brand new home that has been in the works since he purchased it in October 2009 for $10.9 million. To much outrage, he tore down an architecturally significant home to build an even bigger and more contemporary estate.

The new home is designed by Oppenheim Architecture + Design, and according to the architects’ description of the project, Bay’s new mansion is nestled into a hillside, spans 30,000 square feet and features a large theater, movie prop museum, parking, spa and two master bedroom modules hovering above the main living quarters.

Quite the project!

While Bay’s moving into his new home, he’s now selling his former home, which he purchased in 1999 for $5.16 million.

The striking contemporary estate is off a long gated drive in prime Bel Air on a promontory w/ unobstructed views of the entire Los Angeles basin. Designed by the late architect Jack Warner, this extremely private home features clean, crisp lines, grand scale museum-like spaces, soaring ceilings, ideal indoor/outdoor flow and dramatic views from every room. A spacious central living room has a huge fireplace, a large formal dining room, and separate library/den that opens to a lush, private garden, pool & spa.

Other amenities include a state-of-the-art theatre (naturally), wine cellar, and gorgeous wood & stone floors.

David Offer of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services is the listing agent.
