Media Mogul Oprah Winfrey Selling Subdued Home in The Chicago Suburbs

The former talk show queen is saying ‘goodbye’ to her last Chicago-area property.

Oprah Winfrey and Chicago used to be synonymous, but alas, all good things must come to an end. The billionaire media mogul is selling the last of her Chicago-area homes. Listed for $393,875, the suburban home in Elmwood Park, IL, boasts four bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms and 2,255 square feet.

Winfrey never lived in the home, and it’s unclear why or for whom she held the property after buying it for $298,000 in 2001.

The all-brick colonial, built to withstand the brutal Chicago winters, sits on a large lot. With an attached garage, side driveway, fenced yard, two wood-burning fireplaces, hardwood floors and recessed lighting, the home has many desirable amenities, especially for the neighborhood, where the median sales price is $189,000. Sunny and spacious, the home appears to be in good condition with many recent updates.

In recent years, Winfrey offloaded millions in Chicago-area estates, including about $7.5M worth of property in the heart of downtown, in the desirable Gold Coast neighborhood. Fully decamped from Chicago, Oprah spends her days in incredible mansions in Montecito, CA and Hawaii.
