Mel Gibson Seeks $17.5 Million for Malibu Estate

An ‘Old World’ estate with a new world price tag.

Actor and filmmaker, Mel Gibson, is selling his private, ocean-view Malibu estate for $17.5 million! The estate and its décor give a definitive nod to Gibson’s Catholic religion and his interest in history. Throughout the 5.5 acre estate, brick, stone, intricate woodworking and custom décor all lend to the ‘Old World’ motif.

To get to Gibson’s historically-influenced hideaway, you pass through a private gate down a long driveway. The magnificent and secluded property includes a stunning five-bedroom, five-bathroom main house with enchanting outdoor living areas, plus detached guest house and separate pool house/gym. Stone archways lead you down a magically lit pathway to private sun deck and two pools, including a full regulation lap pool.

While being behind Gibson’s gates may make you feel like a world away, the estate is close in location to much of Malibu and Los Angeles’ primo locations. Situated only nine miles to red-hot Santa Monica and close to amazing beaches, the combination of privacy plus proximity is hard to beat.

Gibson bought the home from now-divorced Hollywood couple David Duchovny and Tea Leoni, paying $11.5 million in 2008. A prolific property purchaser, Gibson owns multiple other properties in Agoura, in the hills just above Malibu.
