He may spend most of his time on the news desk over at the Peacock network, but NBC Nightly News host Lester Holt prefers to hang his hat elsewhere. And now, he’s preparing for another move: Holt just sold his sprawling Manhattan condo for $6.4 million. But here’s a unique twist: his wife, Carol Hagen-Holt, was one of the agents on the deal!
The three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom property, which Holt bought back in 2007 for $3.322 million, is the picture of New York sophistication. Located in the stylish Flatiron NoMad area in the highly-coveted Grand Madison building, the home features 11-foot tall ceilings and a private outdoor terrace overlooking Madison Square Park. Giant south-facing windows in the great room provide a snapshot-worthy glance at the Big Apple’s grandeur, while the open kitchen, which has bluestone counters and a spacious eat-in island, is a great gathering place for any family. And with the stunning views of the Park, we’re guessing Holt doesn’t mind sitting down for a quick breakfast. Wood cabinetry and top-of-the-line appliances co-exist, and we’re betting that Lester takes full advantage of that built-in Miele espresso maker.
The beautiful master suite, packed with custom closets and an en suite Calacatta marble bathroom with double sinks, is a taste of true luxury. Open the French doors out to the suite’s peaceful terrace for a view of the city’s skyline. There are two additional bedrooms, as well as the private 48-foot long terrace that overlooks the building’s Zen-inspired courtyard garden.
The Grand Madison embraces the beautiful Beaux-Arts style architecture, and was originally built in 1906 as the Brunswick Building, and was later known as the New York Gift Building before being converted into condominiums in 2005. And with white-glove amenities like a sparkling chandelier lobby and 24-hour concierge, we’re not too sure why Lester (or anyone, for that matter) would want to say goodbye.
Lester isn’t the only NBC newsman that has high-end taste in real estate. Just last year, Matt Lauer bought Richard Gere‘s Hamptons estate for $36.5 million. (He also has multiple other homes, including a spread close to the Today set in New York City.) And you thought journalism doesn’t pay!
