Guillermo del Toro Lists His Agoura Hills Home For $2.195M

'The Shape of Water' director's bank account will shape up nice when this home sells.

Guillermo del Toro is riding high. The acclaimed director scored big at this year’s Oscars with the Best Picture and Best Director Academy Awards for his film, The Shape of Water, co-starring Octavia Spencer. And now, he just listed his five-bed, four-and-a-half-bath home in Agoura Hills, CA for $2.195 million. He bought the sprawling home back in 2010 for $1.6 million, which means he’ll score a nice $600,000 if it manages to sell at its asking price.

Located at the end of a cul-de-sac on the most elegant lot in the neighborhood, Guillermo’s mansion is a stunning traditional-style estate. Built in 1985, the 5700-square-foot home welcomes guests with a formal entry that leads into a dramatic living room with soaring ceilings and tons of natural light streaming in through the sky-high windows. A spacious kitchen has a center island, lavish granite, and plenty of stainless steel appliances, as well as a cozy breakfast area that easily leads outside to a side patio, where you can sip your coffee in the morning sun. (There’s also a formal dining room, ideal for dinner parties.) A large entertainment room with a marble-lined fireplace, wood accents, and a wet bar is ideal for entertaining guests, or just cozying up with family to watch a movie. Up the beautiful, soaring staircase, you’re led to the master suite, a sprawling space that includes a private office, walk-in closets, and extremely opulent marble bathroom. And yes, there’s a deep soaking tub, but we wouldn’t suggest hiding any “humanoid amphibians” in it.

Set on a stunning 18,704-square-foot lot, the outdoor area is just as elegant as the inside. A lounging patio with plenty of cozy nooks and lush gardens creates a peaceful space to relax. Cook up a meal in the built-in BBQ, or take a dip in the beautiful stone-lined swimming pool and spa. A large, fenced-in yard of rolling grass sits next to a sport court, while the gazebo offers a truly elegant oasis. And with stunning views of the hills, we’re guessing you’ll feel at home in no time.
