Diane Keaton has always done Hollywood unlike anyone else. The iconic actress, known for hit films like Annie Hall and Father of the Bride (which has quite the beloved setting itself), just dropped $1.5 million on a four-bed, three-and-a-half bath adobe building in Tuscon‘s Barrio Viejo. It looks like Keaton, who stars in the new film Book Club opposite Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen, is taking her famed quirkiness all the way to the Arizona real estate market.
Measuring 4572 square feet, the adobe is unlike any home you’ll find on the market. According to Tuscon.com, the property was originally built in 1880’s, and just restored from dilapidation four years ago (The restorer chronicled the process on her blog, House Made of Mud.) According to its previous AirBnB listing (the property is no longer available for nightly rental, sorry) the adobe is a former Sonoran row house. You’ll notice the exposed adobe walls with original plaster, and long beamed ceilings. An eat-in kitchen offers space to gather with family or houseguests, while the many living spaces easily fuse traditional adobe style with modern amenities. The master bed is large and welcoming, while the master bath is also spacious and has a stunning stand-alone tub. The outdoor area is simply a love letter to desert living, with plenty of space to gather together until the rolling Arizona skies.
While Diane certainly likes to put her own quirky spin on stardom, she’s not straying too far from Hollywood permanently. Back in 2012, the seasoned house-flipper dropped $5.6 million on a stunning spread in the Pacific Palisades, while her longtime home is a $4.7 million property in the luxe Los Angeles town of Brentwood.
