    "I love Dewees Island! The island is remote and quiet, with no stores, restaurants or cars. There is great fishing and nature watching, as well as 3.5 miles of empty beach-- you may be all alone on the beach! The kids take the ferry to school and have a wonderful time enjoying the area. World Class restaurants are a short ferry ride away."

    "Dewees is a wonderful, natural, peaceful. The wildlife is amazing. The beaches are practically empty. The sand is firm; you can ride a bike on it at low tide. The fishing is the finest inshore fishing in Charleston. We regularly catch red drum, sheepshead, shrimp, crabs, flounder and clams. You can also catch spotted sea trout and black drum. The community of people is very supportive and welcomes newcomers. There are art shows, BBQs, fish fries, sports tournaments, golf cart parades on the 4th of July and more. There's a community pool, community center, tennis courts, canoes, nature center, gift shop (no food), community docks and nature programs. You get to the island by ferry; it runs over and back every hour. Or you can take your own boat. You can be downtown in 40 minutes. One of my friends says, Dewees is, "close to Charleston, far from everything." Come see."
