    "the neighborhood is clean, quiet and people are friendly. I like the area because it's off the beaten path. Church and restaurants are down the street, school close by and the bus service picks the children up and drop them off and watch out for them. Great township living in New Salem York 17408.     "We are not real close to things. The closest highway is Route 30. Traffic on that road is VERY heavy and slow due to traffic signals. I drive to Lancaster for work which is usually at least an hour drive. Frequently longer due to traffic. "

    "Most of York County is rural. Expect to use a vehicle to reach any destination, unless you live near a bus route or the rail trail. The schools in York County are at average, average. There is not a high crime rate, I credit this to the fact most people I know exercise their right to the First Ammendment therefore driving crime rates down. However, even with most rural areas being those who are conservative in nature, these same people are socially liberal."

    "The area is extremely safe and well patrolled. The homes on our block are different style of facades but mostly the same size and extremely well-built & maintained. This is a little 'banana belt" in terms of weather. The extreme weather always seems to miss us! (It usually travels north and misses this area....we get the tail-end of most bad systems.)"
