"I've lived here for nearly 2 decades. It's a great area. A mix of quiet community that's not far from very popular bars, great food, multiple religious institutions, schools, public transport and eventful public parks. the only thing that has been a negative is the parking situation. if you don't own a car, you would save yourself hours of time searching for a place to park a car. "
  • Trulia User

"Trains and buses are within walking distance. Currently elevators to subway are under construction with no shuttle buses available to get to next train station, especially no access to go uptown above 191 unless you schlep down a very steep extremely long winding hill via Fairview to Broadway or Fort George Hill to Nagle/Dyckman Ave"
  • Jose M.
"I’ve lived in different parts of this neighborhood my entire life of 38 years. I’ve seen the many stages and transitions. Things have definitely improved, the parks are cleaner and nicer and are able to be appreciated more , unfortunately though a lot of the people crying about gentrification aren’t doing much to better the community or are oblivious to how they contribute to setting things backwards. With that said , Inwood Washington heights is unique, with tons of history, culture and more neighborly than people give it credit. I love it here "
  • Vfrometamelissa
"Safe for the most part , kids walk home from school , schools aren’t that far away , middle school for the most part"
  • Jimray
"There is good access to public transportation and easily walkable. Buses are a total mess though stick to the subway. "
  • Jr.jr1889
"Getting around the New York City area is fairly easy with around the clock subway and bus services here."
  • Bryan J.
"My commute to Midtown and Downtown Manhattan is extremely easy. There are plenty of trains and/or buses. "
  • Catespinal
"I would highly suggest enrolling your child in a private school or charter as the public schools suck to be honest. Unless you are zoned for the public school on Cabrini Blvd then def go private.. and yes I am a parent. "
  • Ileinne F.
"Gangs and crimes should be lowered. But the neighborhood is good being living here for more than 20 years "
  • Alyssa D.

"This is not a good area for children. I don’t see many children around , and the parks are too far for children to walk to alone. "
