Former president Teddy Roosevelt spoke at the opening ceremonies. The spar of the racing ship that won the America's Cup several times 1890s is the flagpole in one of our parks. "

    "Forest Hills Gardens is a unique community with English Gardens designs and unique architectural details not found in US and more typical of Europe.The quality of construction of the houses is superb and the design of the narrow streets and landscape is truly remarkable. The streets are private which means there is no problem with street parking which is priced commodity in New York City and access to restaurant row in Austin Street and business in Metropolitan Avenue is very convenient. The walking distance to Forest Park makes it a unique natural environment with a feeling of living in the woods yet the neighborhood is right in the middle of NYC. The crime rate in this neighborhood is very low and the schools are great. The blossoming of flower gardens in the spring is just awesome. During the winters, after snow falls, you can see children and adults sledding down the hill in one of the private parks within Forest Hills Gardens. There is an in-ground community pool where kids can go swimming all year round. There is also the West Side Tennis club where folks can play tennis and attend concerts all within walking distance."
