"it’s a nice place to grow up in if you live in the right areas. places here are more expensive because of the n.i.u. being here so it’s harder finding a place to live if you’re on a budget."

"This is a good area to raise your kids. it's safe for kids to play outside not a lot of traffic and 2 parks near by."

"Cheap living with a community feel. Nice, friendly neighbors. Parks for kids. Unfortunate moving in of businesses but if you’re in the back of the neighborhood, it’s not an issue except for unsightliness. We have lived here for going on 9 years and have been pretty happy with things. "

"I've lived in DeKalb for 15 years of my life. Something about it will always feel like home. Whether it's the cornfields and slow pace, or the vibe downtown I will never know. "

"Nearly everyone has a dog! Very pet friendly and easy to walk dogs in this neighborhood! While 7th street is busy, the streets above and below it are great for walking!"
- Fee

"Unless you are getting your own house. Most apartments here charge a fee for your pet plus extra while paying rent. People in this neighborhood don’t like walking in dog poop so it’s best to make sure you clean up after you dog. "

"bring back the neighborhood block party and the city should have one two. the only problem is I can't invite someone from out of town to the event because there's no parking where they doesn't fear being towed"

"I’ve lived in Dekalb for quite some time. It has its perks but there is a lot of crime. It’s more secluded on one side of town but it’s not limited. I wouldn’t raise your kids here"

"Too many college kids and crime. I hate it. And too many people on low income housing out here that used to live in Chicago. Crime, drugs, shooting. It's terrible. Plus the high property taxes. Can't wait to move."
