Regardless of the mode of transportation, it is very straightforward to travel in this part of the city. With Waterfront Station on the Green Line, and a few nearby bus lines, this area is very transit friendly. Cars are also a very good mode of transportation in Southwest Waterfront. It is convenient to park, and many houses for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Southwest Freeway. Southwest Waterfront is reasonably suitable for those who travel by foot; running daily errands is very easy on foot, and plenty of businesses are nearby.

What's it like to live in Southwest Waterfront?

The character of Southwest Waterfront is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. Parks are very well-distributed and there are around 40 of them close by for residents to enjoy, resulting in them being very easy to access from most locations within the neighborhood. This area is also quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although that is not the case near Southwest Freeway or Dwight D Eisenhower Freeway.

What kinds of homes are available in Southwest Waterfront?

In Southwest Waterfront, many buildings are large apartment buildings, while the rest are mainly townhouses. This part of the city has a good variety of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Roughly two thirds of the population of this neighborhood rent their home and one third are owners. Most housing in this neighborhood was constructed between 1960 and 1980, during its main building boom.
