"The southwest annex is a very nice residential area with a strong sense of community. It is conveniently located for access to transportation (BART, I580, I80, etc.). In the direct vicinity (walking distance) there are not many amenities; however, a few minutes drive gets you to most of the highlights of the east bay. For example in 10 minutes you are on 4th Street in Berkeley. There are several parks and bicycle trails along the bay front within walking or biking distance. There is also a Costco a few blocks away. Although it is in Richmond, the schools are the same as in El Cerrito. Richmond as a whole is an up and coming city with some out-of-date bad reputation and this is one of the nicest and safest areas."
