What Locals Say about Garden District

  • Trulia User
"Dogs seem to be welcomed. But many dog OWNERS do not pick up after their dogs. This makes our neighborhood dirty. It also makes walks less enjoyable for everyone. It also opens up the chances to spread disease to other dogs. "
  • Trulia User
"Well maintained tree lined sidewalks are perfect for dogs. Amazing neighborhood with great neighbors and tons of birds from the Botanical Gardens."
  • Trulia User
"I see dogs being walked happily with families/owners. Dogs are maintained not many strays. Everyone uses leash"
  • Trulia User
"Easy commute to University of Arizona and nearby shopping areas. Not far from many hiking trails and the Loop!"
  • Trulia User
"Many homes have a fenced or walled yard for dogs. Lots of people walk their dogs in the neighborhood. "
  • Trulia User
"This neighborhood is convenient to major thoroughfares and is centrally located. The half north of Pima is nicer than the half south of Pima, which can be sketchy. "
  • DO
"this is a horrible area. affordable rent but terrible if you have kids. lots of homeless and drug activity. I've had things taken out of my backyard and found homeless trying to set up camp behind my house."
  • Desiree
"it's a bad area for parents. there is a large homeless population and heavy crime and drug activity in the area."
  • Julie G.
"The neighborhood has nice pockets and a lot of sketchy areas. It could be nice but a lot of transient criminal types wander through and some properties are not well-kept. Vacant lots are not maintained and the city doesn’t take good care of the landscaping in the streets. "
  • Jumpjunkers
"I never see many kids, if any, as I explore the neighborhood. I’m not sure what that might mean for other parents?"
  • Kathleen .
"people walk dogs around here not many sidewalks though. you have to walk in the street. people driving by are respectful of you walking your dog and they will slow down and go around you. "
  • Tucson Resident
"Area is okay, lots of trash on the corners, people just leave garbage on the street for others to dig through. It's not a bad neighborhood close to stores, restaurants and work places. "
  • Julie Arizona
"The neighborhood is not very attractive. Being bordered by Alvernon and Speedway means that a lot of random sketchy people could be walking through the neighborhood at any time. Not really walkable to anything I want to do like eat out, shop etc. "
  • Careychristi
"Older part of town, rustic looking homes, some employed residents and some people seem transient. I don't have anything else to add."
  • Tisha M. M.
"I think dog owners are will known to like walking their dogs in this neighborhood seems actually alot if people in my neighborhood seem to like walking their dogs and know what to do and ect when it comes to coming across another dog walker everything seems great and peaceful actually quite nice and beautiful "
  • Eleanor J.
"My neighborhood has a variety of people from different backgrounds and we are all friendly and respectful to one another."
  • dougjones12
"This neighborhood is in transition from the original owners who bought new in the 1960's to new owners now. Very close to shopping and medical centers. Great pet friendly walled back yard. All doors and windows have well made and attractive metal covings for safety."
  • "This is a great little neighborhood with a friendly community garden, the lovely Tucson Botanical Gardens, and the Martha Cooper Library. Coming soon: a new pedestrian parkway along Pima Street!"
