1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had nothing but one issue after another with this school. I have never had such a terrible experience with a school system as I have with Bellamy. I will say some of the staff does go out of their way to help you and I have appreciated that, but the principal who just recently had a leave of absence does bare minimum when it comes to children with special needs. I have dealt with this matter for two years now and still nothing has been resolved and instead they are making it as if I am to blame for my sons actions. Again I will say some of the staff goes out of their way to help you, for example Miss Emily and Miss Aly are both two people who have been very understanding and doing their all to give me the guidance and resources I need. I do NOT and I repeat this do NOT recommend this school if you have children with special needs and need those services. They have turned my son away numerous times giving me every excuse why they can't do anything on their end. This is the first school I've had any issues with when it comes to special education. I am now debating on pulling my son from the school and home schooling him. He used to love school and now he hates it, he would come home on numerous occasions crying due to being bullied either on the bus or at the school. When I would bring it up to his teacher and the other staff at the school they would deny everything and claim that they watch out for the children. Obviously they don't, bullying is another down fall with this school. I know other parents who suffer with the same when comes to bullying. Now I will say the bus system and everyone there has been really great. When I reached out and explained what was going on with my son on the bus they fired that driver and put a monitor on his bus, now with the monitor that isn't always something they can do due to the shortage but they do try. They also monitored the bullying on the but from older students and handled it when it happened, they also were very good with reaching out to me something Bellamy also lags. My daughter hurt her ankle in school and I was never notified. She came home with an ache bandage on her ankle and an ice pack. I wish I could say something more positive but this school is terrible.Parent Review1y ago - Lyndon H Strough Middle School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagetoo long didn't read: the teachers and staff are wonderful, but it's ruined as a large population of the students are immoral and obscene menaces.personally as an eighth grader here i have a very mixed (and mostly negative) opinion on this school.this place has a severely dramatic amount of immature and foolish students that take pride in not caring about their education, their future, and lots of people here have been bullied.additionally, this place does not pose as a safe space for anyone because there are lots and lots of disrespectful people here. lots of vulgar and harmful language, actions, and gestures are used here.there are some very good teachers here with helping the kids with their work and productivity though. please give them more support because they shouldn't have to be near any students as obscene as the ones at strough.however, they aren't as helpful as supporting students mentally with their personal problems and trauma. in my experience, this school can be emotionally damaging for anyone who goes here, and the teachers don't help out with stopping those bullies at all. their punishments are way too light.personally, i have seen that people with special accommodations and treatments at strough are treated very nicely by the teachers and staff. they're so great with helping out people with learning disabilities, but nothing can ever be the same with the immense trouble and delinquency at strough.additionally, i would like to praise this school for their marvelous communication and involvement with parents and guardians. their assistance with welcoming and guiding new parents and children into adapting to this school is very great.but, the students are still really bad. honestly, i'm absolurely concerned for them.i rate this a 3/5. mixed opinion because of the highly supportive and encouraging teachers, but i still would not recommend due to the horrible kids and the unsafe environment that they bring out.Student Review11mo ago - Rome Free Academy

"Most people walking their dogs are very considerate, there are enough side roads and turns that you can avoid any house with a disruptive dog while walking (I can only think of one)"

" Beautiful homes abound, of every variety....winters are snowy, but it hardly slows anything down...friendly people. The downside is high taxes, a growing population of people from downstate and NYC who are there because of the massive prisons right outside Rome; most are on welfare, draining the city's resources, and the amount of crime - unusual for Rome -- has grown proportionately...if Rome's government cannot find a way to put a brake on this influx, the historic nature of Rome and environs will change permanently. Rome is already struggling from problems dating back 40 years or so, when the govt decided to tear down a quintessential turn of the centery downtown, and cover it with concrete and massive parking garages.....the city is now trying to turn it back into the epicenter of a wonderful town, once again. Cannot be done unless they erect replicas of what they tore down. Rome has a poor reputation for preserving its historic buildings, poor zoning, and without the rejuvenation of former Griffiss Air Force Base, would have virtually no real industries. There still is, however, a certain charm in its older neighborhoods and its friendly, open people. The lovely, historic churches add to the charm, but Rome needs more people to enjoy them (the closing of the base was near-catastrophic for the city's population -- from approx 44,000 then to less than 30,000 now). But I still love to go Home to Rome, although my family is no longer there, but a few friends still are, but I worry about its future."
