7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am an employee and my 3 children all went to Center, it was our home school. The teachers are caring and wonderful, the best my children had! The staff has been great to work with or I wouldn't have stayed for over 10 years! A great school with lots of diversity!Other Review13y ago - Freeport High School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a physically disabled students, this school was terrible. My teachers did not believe I was disabled, even though I had records showing it and notes from every appointment I went to. I also experienced constant transphobia from students, and while staff weren't directly transphobic to me, they wouldn't help with this at all. Programs for students with learning disabilities are built to hold them back. Teachers do not believe they're capable of learning, and encourage them to stay at the same level they're at. Their solution to dyslexic students having trouble with reading is to just not make them read, instead of putting in the effort to teach them differently. They love to say how much they strive for diversity, and then leave everyone that isn't a upper middle class, able-bodied student behind. This school does not educate students, as shown by the terrible college readiness score. After starting college, most people in my graduating year are extremely far behind where they should be. There's a major lack of media literacy and critical thinking especially, but students are also clueless towards a lot of basic concepts in English and math. I am one of these students, I grew up in the distract and can't do pretty basic math. I feel that we were all set up for failure, but poor, lgbtq+ and disabled students were left even further behind than most.Other Review5mo ago - Freeport Middle School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have always had positive experiences with Carl Sandburg Middle School. My children have gone through there and now my grandkids are there. They have always had great teachers and really enjoyed the whole school in general.Parent Review12y ago - Check out schools near 628 E Garden St.

"The neighborhood is quiet. There are long time residents of the houses in my neighborhood. It is just down from the hospital and is up the street from Read Park and the pool. Good location for families. "

"Now to many community events in freeport for kid's. Rockford's way better. Freeport would be Alot better if they offered more things for families to do together. Also it's very hard getting your children into thing's that cost money. They need to think about the lower income families not just families that are well off and don't live paycheck to paycheck. Thanks"

"They wouldn’t like that one of our neighbors allows their pit bull & Labrador, to defecate all over our yards without picking up their dog’s waste. They often let their dogs loose & unattended which causes their pit bull to be taken in by animal control. "

"I’ve only lived here for a little under a year and it’s not a bad neighborhood at all. The park is right down the street, but sometimes it’s busy and when cars park along the streets because of the no driveways it makes it hard to see when pulling out of the driveway. "
