6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school does a great job with our children. Some teachers are more involved than others, but that’s to be expected in every school. The communication at the school and with the teachers is pretty good. The programs that the kids are allowed to be involved in are decent. I also believe that if parents would put more time into their children, their children would turn out better. The school is often blamed for a lot of family and or parenting issues that go unaddressed at home. The board members of the Oceanside School School District aren’t the greatest, This leads to a lot of the problems with the school leadership and things that do need to be fixed, but aren’t. When leader ship does nothing at the school district level, the teachers hands are tied. Some of the teachers with tenure, often get away with doing nothing. This is often very deflating for the students and ruins the motivation to learn.Other Review10mo ago - Oceanside High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageClasses are not engaging for my child. This school is not safe. Teachers and staff give preferential treatment to athletes. It borders high crime rate neighborhoods and has had multiple incidences resulting in victims receiving serious injuries. Discipline is not consistent for students who have weapons on campus. I was told that these students "need to have knives on them for their own protection on their way home." This statement is unacceptable. School should be a safe place for all students.Parent Review1y ago - South Oceanside Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had 2 kids go through South O Elementary. We have had wonderful teachers and the staff has been equally as wonderful. Our community is tight knit and we have lots of local businesses that support us. Our kids really enjoyed their time there.Parent Review7mo ago - Check out schools near 151 S Myers St #E.

"There are Plenty of dog owners in the area that are very friendly. However, I wish that they had more dog parka in the area, especially at the beach. If there was a dog beach I would enjoy this area much better."

"Oceanside was a bit sketchy when I was growing up, but now it’s a hub for artists and new businesses. Lots of good restaurants, brewery’s, and other small hip businesses are flourishing. "

"Sunset Market every Thursday night! Some block parties, generally everyone is welcoming & friendly. The Stand is awesome for walking & people watching. "

"Mostly adult singles and couples. Few teens, fewer small children but that appears to be changing as more small families are moving into the neighborhood. Gentrification is on in a big way here with property values climbing quickly. It is a walkable urban, beachside neighborhood. I love downtown Oceanside, but I could get priced out soon, which is sad. Good bye locals, hello real estate investors. "

"This is an up and coming area that should be fantastic in a few years, but still has a little bit of a sketchy vibe. I wouldn’t let a child walk alone, but should generally be safe if with an adult."

"I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 4 years and the only problem I’ve had was noise. People like to blast their music and have loud parties late at night. You can also sometimes hear drunk people or couples arguing. Other than that it’s been nice living in Oceanside."
