4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have a son with SPD and ADHD and he really struggles in places with other people around. I was very leery about this school because literally everyone told me to transfer gim to Boynton Elementary. We decided to give it a chance. The first week was awful... I mean it was really bad. I was having to pick him up every day within 2 hours because he was melting down. The principal set up a meeting with us, the psychologist and special education teachers.Long story short, we're 4 weeks in and he is now excited to go to school in the morning. His teachers set gim up a little sensory area in the corner with his favorite characters where he can sit with his blanket and play dough and wind down. They got him a weighted blanket and made charts for him with characters to point to how he's feeling when he's unable to express himself. His teacher has been extremely communicative, letting us know how each day is going and we are slowly working him up to a full day. They've made every effort to keep him in his normal class instead of being sent to special needs classes. My other son also has ADHD and he has thrived in his class, coming home to tell me what he's learned while last year he fought tooth and nail against learning. Principal Ellis is caring and communicative and really tries to work with my youngest. I no longer worry every day how he's doing because when I pick him up he's smiling. The office staff is super sweet and even the officer who walks the school stops to hang with my 3 yr old at pickup. This school may be newer at working with special needs but they are doing a terrific job. If you're on the fence I recommend giving them a chance.Parent Review7mo ago - Heritage Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience at Heritage High School has not been that great. The teachers and the school aren't really that bad, it's the students! Some kids literally vape, smoke, drink, and even have sex at this school. The education is neat, but this school is NOT safe for the normal person. A lot of the students here are rude and impolite, the environment itself is not even that safe. The main problem is the school can't really help a lot of these problems. Overall, I would NOT recommend going to Heritage for the normal person. Parents, think twice before you send kids to either HHS or even HMS.Student Review3mo ago - Check out schools near Jays Way.
