7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has been a great fit for my child. There is an excellent offering of honors and AP classes. There are so many options for afterschool clubs. It's a big school, but that allow for a lot of opportunities. My child has really been able to thrive here and I feel very lucky to be in this district.Parent Review2mo ago - Setauket Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son joined the school in September 2022 in grade K. I find Setauket Elementary a really good school, with devoted, caring and experienced teachers, and extremely supporting staff, both at school and aftercare. I could not be happier with their service so far. My kid also has special needs and I am happy to say that he has a good multidisciplinary team making sure that his needs are met, and I could see how they all really care about him. My kid is also a few grades above in reading and math, and the teachers have strived to support him at meeting him at a higher level in these areas, while at the same time working those areas where he needs additional support. All in all for K at least I could not be happier with the school, I feel my kid is supported by caring, knowledgeable and efficient teachers and team.Parent Review1y ago - Ward Melville Senior High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have taught in different high schools and I had field experience with reputable company. Being said, my experience, as a teacher at Ward Melville high school had been quite satisfying until the recent principal. He kept transferring students, from summer time and through the school year, from one teacher to another for all the wrong reasons. I did not know the term helicopter parents until I started teaching on Long Island. Well it exists and it is sad but true that the influence of these parents does not help the education system. Do not blame the teachers and the chairs when they are told to follow certain guidelines so these parents are satisfied. Who is thinking about the students? This school has great potential to be the best school on Long Island if the chance is given to do so. Let the honest teachers do their jobs and work for the students and not the helicopter parents so they have a bright future. The worst was when this principal, who was hardly at school, and apparently using school time for his personal advancement, was able to continue for several years without any interruptions. I was mostly saddened by incidents where innocent students and school staff were physically and emotionally hurt, and no disciplinary actions were taken. In fact, the students who should have been disciplined, continued to hurt others, knowing that nothing will happen to them. They were right. It’s time for a change and I wished the honest parents would come forward, voice themselves, get involved and help out. It’s time. I hope I can see the change in this school before it’s too late. Please excuse my writing if it’s grammatically incorrect, I wrote it from my heart because I care. I loved my students, I was not an easy teacher, showed great results through my teaching career, mostly focusing on my students.Other Review5mo ago - Check out schools near 122-4 Quaker Path.
