5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am 2003 Graduate of thurston High School and found it to be a great experience for me. Teachers such as Paul Halupa and Kevin Rowan (though Mr. Rowan is, I believe, no longer there) impacted and changed my life. The teachers, coaches and administration really cared about us as a student body and prepared us for the future. If there is any doubt about the school's ability to prepare students after high school (where I was part of a 3x state champion cheer squad) I received a B.A. in English at the UO and a M.A. in education from Pacific U. 1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur family moved from across town, our daughter just went into 2nd grade at Riverbend. School just started last week, this week I had a chance to observe the Principal talk to the dad's about being more involved with the school and community to help strengthen both. "Very dog friendly people have dogs on leashes sometimes you’ll see them at the park without a leash because they’re playing catch the well behaved ones are off leashes very family oriented and Some businesses you can take your dogs into"

"Gets busy but not horrible. Buses run pretty well. Some express buses. Fair amount of stops. Connects with Eugene easily. The rush hour is usually 30 minutes unless there is an accident or other delay. But, if possible, I would take the bus. The roads are getting busier as time goes on."

"Springfield has pockets of homeowners who care, parent their children, and are responsible citizens. But there are other areas within the city that are sketchy. Not necessarily crime ridden, but just trashier. You have to know the area to know which neighborhoods are respectable. "

"Make sure you have a Community that care. Also know the difference between common sense and stupidity when it comes to people and their neighborhoods. There are certain crazies in town, you need to make sure you know the whereabouts of your children and who are with them. Better be safe than sorry."

"easy access to public transit and close to downtown Springfield and eugene but its trash. there is graffiti and homeless people camping out and doing drugs in stairwells, bushes and under stairs. police sirens multiple times a day. I find needles in the park and laundry mat. stay far far away."

"The schools here aren’t so great and there not much to do like there is to do in places like Portland but there is beautiful places to go hikes. I grew up on the McKenzie and absolutely loved it "

"There’s a walking/bike path that goes a few miles. Starting near shopping and bus lines it goes around parks and school, even a tennis court. Lots of grass along the way for your dog to relieve himself. Most people are decent enough to clean it up. The path ends up over near a river and a new path that runs another direction along nature area with wildlife for your dog to bark at. "

"I am retired and drive in when I need to. The commute to Springfield downtown is about 10minutes and the commute to Eugene is 15 to 20. Also about 20 minutes to drive up the river to camping, fishing, kayaking, etc."

"Couldn't be more central to Eugene, hwy126, Franklin near UofO, Autzen Stadium and I-5. Also close to Willamette River, rock flats, two parks, miles of Jogging trails, also fishing in river or ponds. "

"Do not like it here, leaving Lane County...going home to Clackamas County where I belong...some areas are ok,,some not so much...pretty much the same in Clackamas County, but you get used to your hometown after 11 years."
